The Pendleton 8. Another cause for me to get behind, or a waste of time? I seem to always be getting myself into causes involving social justice and idealism. Is it misplaced idealism? There's certainly no shortage of that.

We don't know this. Be careful of your biased information.

I am sure you have done things in life that would make Jesus Cry. Violence is the balance for Peace, with out it this world would be in total chaos with overpopulation. So whetere it's through Violence or Disease I don't see what the big deal is.

Some background from Wikipedia concerning this case for the wary unfamiliar.

Yes but the difference is I don't advocate those things.

You can't really believe that. There's nothing superior about violence?

But to gain peace, there is always violence before it. Even Ghandi died from it.

This is backwards logic, for there would be no reason to "gain peace" if there wasn't violence in the first place.

You pretty much just proved my point.

I admit the initial link is biased.

But I think a fair-minded person would look at the alternative media with optimism after they break stories like this. A fair-minded person would also take a look at what moveon.org has to say, and what the dailykos.com editors have to say. But when the alternative media is the first to unleash a story, you can count on them to put as much spin as they like.

What's it have to do with the media, you ask?

The media being excessive in condemning US torture tactics on prisoners, and being absent when there is injustice directed towards our troops.

While this is off-subject, it's interesting in point nonetheless.

I can't say Ghandi was a peacemaker by definition, but an enlightened pacifist. His motives were well-intended, but they did not result in peace. They resulted in the loss of his life.

Quote:
Since it gained independence, India has seen sectarian violence and insurgencies in various parts of the country, but has maintained its unity and democracy. It has unresolved territorial disputes with China, which escalated into the brief Sino-Indian War in 1962; and with Pakistan, which resulted in wars in 1947, 1965, 1971 and in 1999 war in Kargil. India is a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement and the United Nations (at the time as part of British India). In 1974, India conducted an underground nuclear test. This was followed by five more tests in 1998. Significant economic reforms beginning in 1991 have transformed India into one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

I know what I advocate and what I don't. What kind of question is that? Are you just reaching?

So in other words, you have a moral monopoly?

Wow, that's a leap of logic. How did you get from not advocating to having exclusive control?

It's very simple. Neither you or I can claim in a clear conscience that everything we advocate is moral in the eyes of God.

That's why I'm very careful of the things I advocate in life. Violence isn't one of them.
