Search for Banned Arms In Iraq Ended Last Month
Critical September Report to Be Final Word

By Dafna Linzer
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, January 12, 2005; Page A01

The hunt for biological, chemical and nuclear weapons in Iraq has come to an end nearly two years after President Bush ordered U.S. troops to disarm Saddam Hussein. The top CIA weapons hunter is home, and analysts are back at Langley.

In interviews, officials who served with the Iraq Survey Group (ISG) said the violence in Iraq, coupled with a lack of new information, led them to fold up the effort shortly before Christmas.

Yes, but the key question remains. Are we still searching for "weapons of mass destruction-related program activities?"

"Saddam had the capacity to some day invent a time machine and go back and and steal atomic bombs enroute to Hiroshima and Nakasaki, we had to act."

I think this line is out of bounds. We all know that Bush is saving the time machine scenario for Iran. Or, North Korea, if need be. Possibly France if we're really in a pinch.

Revisionist history well at work.

Want me to give a list of names of people in the Clinton/Bush administrations and all the senators/representatives privy to the top secret information that agreed Saddam had WMD's? Want a list of countries also?

So having shitty intelligence isn't reason for embarassment? And who pulled the inspectors out?

Now what exactly is revisionist about this?

Revisionist in the fact that liberals like to now say that the U.S./Bush was alone in this and it was some evil bush scheme, when in fact the vast majority of the intelligence in the world did nothing but back the U.S. position. If only we had that Delorian from Back to the Future we could head back in time and tell everybody that they are wrong about their intelligence. Unfortunately, history doesn't work like that.

You should have been here when I published the LONG list of democrats including Mr. & Mrs. Clinton who claimed Saddam had WMD......

But, NAH....lets continue to act like it was only Bush.
Lets forget that members of Congres on the democratic side of the aisle wrote letters to the President urging him to act.......

because that would take the fun out of politicizing this.

Huh, funny I haven't see anyone claim this in this thread so far yet we jump to such conclusions. I have seen people say it's an embarassment and yes our poor intelligence and our Powells fiascco in front of the UN was an embarassment. And I've seen people make fun of the flip flop that Bush over the last several months from starting off with "I know he has weapons" to "Saddam could have weapons" to "Saddam could have started a weapons program at anytime in the future".

That part I find to revisionist.

Let's read the thread again and give some people the benefit of the doubt, no one has claimed that this wasn't true.

The end of the search for WMD in Iraq does not end the mystery surrounding what Saddam did with thousands of liters of Anthrax, Hundreds of pounds of Mustard Gas, thousands of Bio/Chem Artillery shells that SADDAM was supposed hand over or verifiably dismantle. There are many theories as to what might have happened, but no facts. It is a fact that SADDAM failed to Verifiably disarm of all WMD per multiple UN resolutions and the 1991 Gulfwar Ceacefire Agreement. This fact made military force a necessity in order to enforce the resolutions and agreements vital to the security and the stability of the region and the world.

For WMD please refer to Syria and then the Bekka Valley in Lebanon.
