Does anyone else find it awfully strange that although the majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis and there is likely evidence that Saudi financial support for terrorism was given....that we're in Iraq? We've got a vested interest in Saudi Arabian oil---don't bite the hand that feeds you, right? :eyebrow:

Saudi Arabia contains a *lot* of oil, if you want to push on the Royal family to take action then you are risking the global economy big time.

Secondly most Islamist organizations loath the Saudi regime doing business with the US and want to topple it, so they use Saudi hijackers to break down the US-Saudi alliance, the weakened Saudie government will then be picked off easily without the US support.

Thirdly, eliminating SA from the game is top priority but to do it one must secure energy supplies and bases in the region, hence Iraq - by invading Iraq and securing a democracy it will help reshape the entire region - including Iran. Once Iran and Iraq are secured then you can turn the heat up on the Saudies and get down to business without as much threat and then hopefully (this is decades from now btw.) the entire Islamic world can enjoy freedom and liberty and we can see peace. It is ambitous, it is very dificult but it is the only viable course of action.

Saudi Arabia is one big totalitarian hellhole. Women there have virtually no rights. They can't drive cars. They can't leave their houses without being escorted by a male relative. "Honor killings" are perfectly legal. But, these people are sitting on top of one-quarter of the world's oil, and we have security concerns as well. Saudi Arabia, like it or not, is currently one of our allies, and it just wouldn't do to bomb it. I wouldn't support this, either.

SA right now is a case of better the devil you know, and nobody should like that.

Saudi is pretty much the worst country I've ever lived in. Bar none. Oh sure, its not as bad as the state of Iraq at the moment, but thats not really saying much.

Its a hellhole, and thats all there is to it.

Ant.

How many regular Saudis hate the Saud regime which oppresses them 24/7 and why are they unworthy of liberation?

A whole slew of regular Saudis hate the government. It's a dictatorship. Remember, I didn't want to invade Iraq either.

A lot of Saudies hate the regime, and that is why this entire situation is so fucked up. The reason that nobody will do anything about it is the oil and it pisses me off - they deserve to be free but the opportunity has not presented itself - yet.

*Case in point Alhamedi at "The Religious Policeman" has not posted in ages - it seems that he has been given a warning about it - http://muttawa.blogspot.com/ - read the blog, it has a good deal of insight into the country.
