And inter-species. That's clearly a male Bantha and a male Tusken Raider.

The Moment of Victory in Minnesota (2012) - YouTube

it still boggles my mind how anyone wants to prevent people from marrying ... and you can feel how deeply personal even this small victory (all that happened was that they prevented SSM from being explicitly outlawed in the MN constitution, SSM is not legal in MN) is to all involved.

Votes are still being counted, but the opposition has conceded. Huzzah!

Anti-gay French protest against gay marriage vote. While the majority of France supports SSM, they don't seem to be too crazy about gays and lesbians adopting. Uhm, why?

Yeah, not exactly getting that, either.

Quote:
The organization behind the protests, called "Demos for All" in imitation of the "marriage for all" call of gay-marriage campaigners, claims the Socialist government's reforms, which polls indicate have popular support, would threaten "major and dangerous upheaval."
Right, because I've heard about so much horror and destruction in the areas where it HAS been legalized.

Oh, wait, no, I haven't.

Quote:
The Vatican pledged this month never to stop fighting attempts to "erase" the privileged role of heterosexual marriage, which it called "an achievement of civilization".
1, right, which totally explains why the divorce rate among straight couples is so high, eh? Love the use of the word "privileged", too.
2, don't you guys have some pedophile priests to hide away somewhere? Shut up, you've lost your right to complain about any moral and social issues going on out there.

Very few Catholics even listen to the Vatican, let alone the Pope.

don't know what to make of this

No gay marriage decision from SCOTUS Friday

they could have easily done whatever they are going to do today as easily as Monday, my speculation is that Scalia, Alito, Thomas don't like the way it is going, they are trying to fashion an outcome that slows civil rights a bit longer

Court takes CA Prop 8 case

now what?

Quote:
U.S. Supreme Court to rule on California's Prop. 8 ban on gay marriage
Los Angeles Times | December 7, 2012 | 12:19 PM

The Supreme Court announced today it will rule for the first time on same-sex marriage by deciding the constitutionality of California's Prop. 8, the voter initiative that limited marriage to a man and a woman.

This could be major. Also, can we somehow lock Scalia and Thomas in a room during deliberations?

Good question. That'd be nice.

Ooh. Yeah. This could be interesting, indeed.

Mexico will probably legalize it nationwide very soon. Currently legal in Mexico City and recognized nationwide. And yesterday their supreme court ruled against an area that was trying to ban it.

That would sandwich the US between two places where its legal everywhere and not just a few states. Which will speed up the process for it to be legal nationwide here IMO.
