I am sitting here in near tears watching the bodies of 5 Canadians being repatriated to Canada at Canadian Forces Base Trenton.

Our national newschannels are broadcasting the return of the men in flag-draped coffins to their country and families. It is a sad scene with 5 black hearses lined up on the tarmac.

Totally heartwrenching and my thoughts go out to the families of the 5
men.

Private Mark Anthony Graham, 33
-one daughter
-competed for Canada at the '92
Barcelona Olympics in 4x400 relay

Sgt. Shane Stachnik,
-proposed to his girlfriend 5 months ago before he left for Afghanistan

Warrant Officer Frank Robert Mellish,
- married with 2 young children

Warrant Officer Richard Francis Nolan
- leaves behind his common-law partner Kelly, also a soldier in Afghanistan, along with three school-aged sons and teenaged stepdaughter

Pte. William Jonathan James Cushley,21
-not married and no children

Regardless of any political positions on Canada's role in Afghanistan, I am certain all Canadians share in the grief and sadness of the families of our fallen soldiers.

I was in Ottawa when four Canadian soldiers were killed in early August and watched the coverage with much sadness. I'm sorry for your recent losses.
