The sandwich or the image wasn't specifically referred to as an "icon". I suppose the person who paid 28K for it thought it was valuable. I haven't heard any discusssion of this at church, or even in the Catholic press, but I don't expect that sandwich to show up at any Catholic Churches or shrines as an icon anytime. No, not a grilled cheese sandwich.
