He had a morning speach at UAB in the morning, then he spoke at a luncheon for Congressman Riley who is running for Governor.

Apparently, he didn't want the fancy-shmancy luncheon food, so they stopped to pick up some world-famous Dreamland barbecue ribs for him to eat on the way from UAB to the luncheon. Well, his handlers decided that the ribs would be too messy, so he had the Secret Service call the restaurant at the art museum and asked them to fix him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, which they did. He did not miss out on the ribs, though; they apparently snacked on them on Air Force One after the luncheon.

Just thought all of you would like to hear this.

I doubt that Bama, there is an Air Force regulation that stipulates you are not allowed to eat contraband (i.e., ribs, food from alabama) aboard AIr Force planes.

Hey, U2Bama, you must be from Birmingham. So is yours truly. I knew that the President was coming to town. I'm not big into partisan politics (I am an independent) but I'm sick--major drag -- so I didn't get to see him. I would have liked to. Oh, well, can't have your cake and eat it too.

bush was here in the twin cities last week too. i saw air force one and all the little helicopters and stuff that go around it. it was cool.

[/lame "i pretend i saw the president" story]

I saw Air Force One land at our Airport while I was working. Taxied right by me. I was pretty excited to see it. It is an amazing aircraft.

I didn't see a commisary truck pull up next to it though.

Did you get a glance of the escort vehicles too?

You mean the ones driving down the runway after the landing and following it to the parking area - or the ones that fly in on the C-5 beforehand? (maybe they are the ones that fly in before hand).

Dammit - I want to see the C-5 - I've never had the opportunity to see one in person. I want Bush to come back so I can see those things land.

While I have rode in a C-5, I was referring to the fighter escorts like the F-16's. I wasn't even sure he had an accompanying C-5, I am aware of fighters though.

Yes I love watching aircraft (military) esp the big bombers and of course the fighters. I am lucky enough to get a "show" everyday at work.

I was told by fellow employees that he has a pre-visit C-5 fly in and it brings his car and support vehicles and other supplies. I'll have to ask my former roommate that is in the secret service here.

I unfortunately did not see any F-16s - I was looking for them. They may have been "up there" - out of view of the human eye.

I get a daily show of my favorite aircraft - airliners. Hell, from this coffee shop, I still get to watch the landing route of the two major runways for MSP. Northwest after Northwest (I hate hub cities - no good variety).

Of course, that makes sense! How else would they get all of the motorcade and stuff there? I never even thought of it DOH (me)

We were in a meeting in the conference room Friday and saw the C-5 and Marine One fly in. My office is on the 20th floor and overlooks I-20/59 and the airport. Although I missed Air Force One landing yesterday, I saw the motorcade driving in from the airport, and I saw it returning to the airport. I planned to look back in a few minutes to see Air Force One taking off, but I forgot, until I heard a louder-than-usual-airliners-or-KC-135s "vroooom" flying over my building. Then my co-workers came by and said, "Hey! Did you see Air Force One taking off?!?!"

As with the F-117 Stealth Fighters, when Air Force One lands at my facility most people are not allowed to go outside the buildings. They are allowed to peek out through windows, however.

I think I heard the damn thing taking off. We always get airplanes flying overhead even though we don't live particularly close to the airport. Go figure.
