I hope that made you feel very well, probably then it was worth it. It seems you have never heard of spyware and adware. I would be more suspicious of a computer that DOESNT have any porn on it those days than of a computer that does, and not being hidden somewhere. Maybe your prof wasnt exactly what youd call a computer savvy.

Reporting people who have XXteensex shit on their favourites list is about as naive as assuming that liberals are terrorists. Thanks and goodnight.
I'm really not sure how I'm supposed to be reading this post, but I'm getting a real negative vibe...I work full time and I'm good at my job OK? I fucking know the difference between spyware and some jerk off who's using school network space for storing all his favorite porno flicks. I really REALLY do NOT appreciate those comments. If anyone's naive, it's him for thinking no one would notice or care and you for judging my competence based on one post.

What he's saying is spyware can automatically place these things listed into your "favorites". You don't have to be looking at porn to have these "favorites" placed on your computer. So unless you actually catch him in the act or you find movies or pictures downloaded then maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Many have found these links in their "favorites" without their knowledge. Anyone who downloads music, uses crap like weatherbug, or just surfs onto the wrong site is susceptible to spyware placing these items into their favorites. So you may have turned someone in who was completely innocent.

I think there is a bit of the let he/she who is without sin cast the first stone thing working here, Miss LivLuvAndIllegallyReproduceAnd/OrDistributeMusic.

This juxtaposition is priceless. Made me laugh!

I cant resist throwing 2 bob in here. I'd say hiphop had a great point as this once happened to me. My msn list was wiped and a whole bunch of sex sites replaced my normal and definitely non porn addresses with a whole bunch of smut. I cant remember what exactly happened to cause it but it was most likely a search my hisband had done on this comp for a PS2 cheat. Those sites have embedded shit all over them.

BUT - if this prof had been looking for say crackz or warez and had inadvertantly had these links added on to his favourites, wouldn't typical human nature have caused him to exclaim vehemently at/to/in LivLuv's presence at such a thing? I reckon that's a given, so that seems to indicate it was there intentionally.

I have opinions about it that I'll just keep to myself..most of them have already been expressed here anyway.

But one thing I'll say is I do think it definitely creates unrealistic expectations about women. Are there ANY women in porn who are the female equivalents of Ron Jeremy?

Well almost every hollywoodmovie creates unrealistic expectations or does anyone think that "e-mail for you" was a realistic movie (to pick randomly one)

ps Who is Ron Jeremy?

No, he was NOT innocent. Like I said my entire life is repairing computers and I deal with spyware issues like 4 long hrs of every day. I'm not stupid. You don't need to explain my job to me again. The guy had pictures and movies saved to his network drives. Still think he's only guilty of a spyware infestation? He knows a thing or two about computers, trust me. Explains why he had covered every inch of his office windows w/ random paper and posters.... I went to my highest boss that still knows who I am and said "IF the students are not allowed to use school owned property/network space for pornography and other violations of your AUP, THEN shouldn't the SAME STANDARDS hold true for our Professors?" She said "Yes, but we don't even have a policy in place on how to deal with this." and I thought "lady, that's quite naive and unfair to assume that ONLY the students have issues w/ porn."

The spyware/adaware you're speaking of happens a lot too, even to me, but we all know the difference. And human nature is not to immediately strike out, but to freeze like a deer in the headlights, which is exactly how he reacted.

And indra, FYI I've never bootleged anything. Don't have the equipment and don't know how.

But I guess since everyone here seems to agree that I don't know how to do my job, I'll leave now.

He's some guy with a massive schlong who's slept with about 5000 women in porn movies throughout his 'career'. He's somehow become a bit of a celebrity.

Lord knows how, or why really.

LivLuv, dont go. I have faith in you, for what that's worth!

Everyone is getting rather impassioned (is it appropriate to say that in this thread?) in this topic, but I'm sure it isn't personal. Well at least I hope it isnt.

Agreed. Let's not start mudslinging here. LivLuv was trying to do a job which she is paid to do, and she has a responsibility to live up to the policies and standards set forth by her position.

Let's stick to the issues, kay?

No one's telling you how to do your job. You said you reported someone due to what you saw in his favorites. You said you weren't snooping. So maybe you didn't explain yourself. But a person's reaction doesn't prove guilt nor does the desire for privacy (if that was the case all my proffesors were guility for they all covered their windows).

if you mean ugly, fat and hairy women with large schlongers... yes... there are.

and no... i don't look at them

anyone who's been stuck in a porn loop after stupidly/mistakenly hitting a link/ad that they shouldn't have could tell ya that... there's porn for people who like ugly people, porn for people who like fat people, porn for people who like pregnant people, porn for people who like old people :, porn for people who like donkeys...

what gets your rocks off, there's a type of porn on the internet for you, if you want it.

and as long as the people/goats in the film are of legal age (what exacly is legal porn age for a goat? ) and are consenting... hey... i'm not into mature chicks with dicks, but if that's what gets ya on... hey whatever floats your boat man. who am i to judge somebody on what gets them sexually stimulated.

if we're not supposed to judge someone who's sexually attracted to a person of the same sex, then why should we judge someone who's sexually attracted to tall women with large hairy feet to each his/her own

Gah! I've seen enough Law and Order to know guilt/innocence works. I told you EXACTLY what I said to my boss and she told me EXACTLY what she found on his hard drive and network space and unless you have an explainantion for how pornogrpahic images and videos got there via spyware, the man's guilty as guilty can be and was disciplined accordingly by whatever part of the college deal w/ bastards like him. Do I need to tell the entire story again in EXACT detail for anyone to believe me? I didn't think I needed to explain myself. I thought this was a thread about porn, not whether or not I know what I'm talking about.

I'm getting rather "impassioned" b/c I feel as if I'm being attacked and even if no one meant it this way, this is EXACTLY what I deal with EVERYDAY b/c I'm a young woman doing a "man's" job.

I reckon it is normal to expect a person to be at least surprised to see a whole bunch of porn links on their computer if they didnt put them there, regardless of whether porn is actually a common practice? Besides which, that is not the issue. It seems like LivLuv was perfectly within reason to report it as I am sure all universities have policies on having such things on their computers.
