this is just an opinion. Prostitution has been around for a loooooooooooooooong time. I know it is wrong. But they should make it legal and in seclure areas. I think it would decrease the rates in STD's and the Gov't could tax it.

But it is still wrong.

How is prostitution wrong?

Exploitation is wrong, prostitution itself not so much - combining the free market with sex, brilliant.

And why exactly is prostitution wrong?

How would legalizing and regulating lower STD rates?

Allowing sex workers unions to guarantee their rights and having health and safety regulations that cover the sex industry would help to reduce risks.

Why should anyone have to pay for sex. And the risk of contacting a virus would be reduced due to condom use, weekly check up at clinics or having a clinic on hand in the place of business.

^ Agreed, legalise and regulate it.

What do you think legal escort services are?

Making it legal with more openly explicit language won't change exploitation and STD risks through cash deals on the street or in massage parlors.

Have any of you read the ___ In Death books by J. D. Robb (Nora Roberts)?

They are set in the near future, and have prostitution legalized and people work in the regulated sex trade. They are called Liscenced Companions, and they have different levels - some work on the street, some work by building a client base, agency, etc... Each one has to have a liscence that is updated yearly, and health checks that are required to get the liscence.

Regulate it, Tax it, and make it legal :)

you guys don't think that legalizing prostitution will only glamorize it? Besides I don't think this would solve the problem of STDs, those who are unfit for a license will continue to work, and promiscuity in general will go on.
