Gun rights groups say they will conduct a mock mass shooting this weekend at the University of Texas campus as they try to end gun-free zones.

Would not surprise me one bit if it were, to be honest .

And this is exactly what I was getting at in the other thread about the US being a global laughingstock.

It's what I was getting at in the other thread about being terrified of things coming to a head.

I do not get how, just a few short years after something as horrific as Sandy Hook, there are people out there who think this shit is actually a good idea.

Would that we could make everyone who approves of stuff like this meet up with the families of everyone who lost somebody to gun violence.

Now if teachers really were armed, that mock mass shooting could easily end in tears.

So does anything ever get done? I mean we're a few weeks removed and the discussion seems to be over. Again.

Make less soft targets. Have armed security.

Do you have any idea how much this will cost?

ongoing mass shootings thread

I assume you want nothing but the finest, most qualified candidates for the security. Vetted and thorough background checks

You know, like maybe the same we should have for citizens who wish to buy a gun

This isn't really my idea of good job growth.

And if we do go through with your plan, how do you propose we pay for this? Who will pay for this?
