Families of the Omagh victims six years ago are in the midst of the civil suite against the Real IRA , which although claimed responsibility for the attack not one member in Northern Ireland has ever been charged with the murders .
The ruling of the Real IRA as not a proscribed oganization under the terrorisim act has meant no one has faced charges is Northen Ireland for the murders.. laws being different in the Republic of Ireland has allowed them to hold charges and jailed to Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt , was chared in the Republic and sentenced to 20 years in a Dublin Court for directing terrorisim.. and one Colm Murphy 14 years for his part in plotting the Omagh bombing.
The five other men are being held and sued by family members for 14million or more to take down the Real IRA financially is part of there goal.. It's going to the high courts,
currently legal aid is being witheld for the defendants.
Some of the known people involved in the murders are free walking the streets around Omagh like nothing can touch them hopefully this civil case might bring more attention from Tony Blair etc to change legislation so that nobody gets off scott free again..
