Apparently Vegemite is a now banned substance in the US.........because of 
....wait for it.......Folate.......yeah,that nasty B group vitamin that is crucial to the healthy development of babies in early pregnancy!
Folate taken before conception and in the first trimester of pregnancy can prevent seven out of ten cases of neural tube defects, such as spina bifida.

But....I've eaten Vegemite and Marmite...and I always thought they were essentially vitamins on toast. How could that be a bad thing?
