Do you remember what gas prices did under Bush? People have short memories.

What was unemployment when Obama took office, and what is it now? Now compare that to the last time the US has seen a recession like this... oh wait, we really haven't have we? Would McCain have been able to bring these numbers down quicker? How?

Do you remember reading the reasoning for our first credit rating drop? A lot of it had to do with the Republicans playing chicken.

And do you remember how many folks considered Bush's war "unconstitutional"?

I think the booing of any political figure is to be expected at any sports event and mostly indicative of a broad anti-political "they're all crooks" sentiment.

Classy . What an intelligent argument against Obama being made by that person.

You never know...Scott Brown. Things are getting very ugly here. Maybe Obama could really screw up and pick Bobby Valentine as his VP. They could get together and compare booings. I'm sure Bobby V is already looking for an out, and he can do anything anyway. Inventing wrap sandwiches, ballroom dancing, public safety commissioner. Obama should mock tip his cap too when he gets booed.

There is such knowledge of/experience with Romney that I'm sure it would be highly unlikely. I know how much of that type of booing takes place at sporting events, but I was still surprised. At least Caroline Kennedy didn't get booed.

Bush is not the president, he is not running against this president, and neither is McCain. Iran says is building copy of captured US drone
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI | Associated Press – 5 hrs ago...

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran claimed Sunday that it had reverse-engineered an American spy drone captured by its armed forces last year and has begun building a copy.

Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, chief of the aerospace division of the powerful Revolutionary Guards, related what he said were details of the aircraft's operational history to prove his claim that Tehran's military experts had extracted data from the U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel captured in December in eastern Iran, state television reported.

Among the drone's past missions, he said, was surveillance of the compound in northwest Pakistan in which Osama Bin Laden lived and was killed.

Tehran has flaunted the capture of the Sentinel, a top-secret surveillance drone with stealth technology, as a victory for Iran and a defeat for the United States in a complicated intelligence and technological battle.

U.S. officials have acknowledged losing the drone. They have said Iran will find it hard to exploit any data and technology aboard it because of measures taken to limit the intelligence value of drones operating over hostile territory.

Hajizadeh told state television that the captured surveillance drone is a "national asset" for Iran and that he could not reveal full technical details. But he did provide some samples of the data that he claimed Iranian experts had recovered.

"There is almost no part hidden to us in this aircraft. We recovered part of the data that had been erased. There were many codes and characters. But we deciphered them by the grace of God," Hajizadeh said.

He said all operations carried out by the drone had been recorded in the memory of the aircraft, including maintenance and testing.

Hajizadeh claimed that the drone flew over Osama Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan two weeks before the al-Qaida leader was killed there in May 2011 by U.S. Navy SEALs. He did not say how the Iranian experts knew this.

Before that, he said, "this drone was in California on Oct. 16, 2010, for some technical work and was taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan on Nov. 18, 2010. It conducted flights there but apparently faced problems and (U.S. experts) were unable to fix it," he said.

Hajizadeh said the drone was taken to Los Angeles in December 2010 where sensors of the aircraft underwent testing at an aerospace factory.

"If we had not achieved access to software and hardware of this aircraft, we would be unable to get these details. Our experts are fully dominant over sections and programs of this plane," he said. "It's not that we can bring down a drone but cannot recover the data."

There are concerns in the U.S. that Iran or other states may be able to reverse-engineer the chemical composition of the drone's radar-deflecting paint or the aircraft's sophisticated optics technology that allows operators to positively identify terror suspects from tens of thousands of feet in the air.

There are also worries that adversaries may be able to hack into the drone's database, as Iran claimed to have done. Some surveillance technologies allow video to stream through to operators on the ground but do not store much collected data. If they do, it is encrypted.

Media reports claimed this week that Russia and China have asked Tehran to provide them with information on the drone but Iran's Defense Ministry denied this.

no, but Mr. Obama has had to deal with 8 years of Mr. Bush's record. is it reasonable to assume that the country would be fully recovered from those unspeakably awful years?

yes, Mr. Obama has to stand by his record, but pretending that nothing existed before January 20, 2009 is kind of silly, no?

anyway, it was Mr. Obama who has removed troops from Iraq. and it was Mr. Obama who killed Osama Bin Laden. and it is Mr. Obama who wants to wind down in Afghanistan, as opposed to Mr. Romney and the rest of the GOP who believe that foreign policy should be dictated by generals.

as for the economy, this has long been far beyond the total control of most presidents, just like gas prices for example, but it's also inarguable that we've seen this:

Oh how passive agressive of you...

Of course it's Obama's record, but once again you missed the point.

I was pointing out context. This is something so many voters have grown to ignore. Context is key when making informed decisions. If we as a nation continue to ignore context we will continue in this cycle.

Hey look at the gas prices it must be Obama's(or Bush, Reagan insert whoever you want) fault, vote him out. But without really looking at cycles, and understanding what really drives gas prices then you're voting for the wrong reason, and those cycles will continue. And when it's Romney who is president and gas prices rocket up, I hope you make the same uninformed criticism.

Disabled America: 5.4 Million Join Social Security Disability Insurance Rolls Under Obama - Investors.com

Quote:
A record 5.4 million workers and their dependents have signed up to collect federal disability checks since President Obama took office, according to the latest official government data, as discouraged workers increasingly give up looking for jobs and take advantage of the federal program.

This is straining already-stretched government finances while posing a long-term economic threat by creating an ever-growing pool of permanently dependent working-age Americans.

Since the recession ended in June 2009, the number of new enrollees to Social Security's disability insurance program is twice the job growth figure.
Let's repeat that.

So we can't blame Bush anymore.

Brag all you want about the 2.3 million jobs "created" by this recovery. At the same time 4.7 million new enrollees are now collecting disability checks from the government and have dropped out of the workforce completely.

congratulations for having him on your ignore list? i don't see how this contributes to the discussion at all. but you missed the point anyway and don't seem to even want to have a discussion and would rather just point the finger at obama. if you don't see how bush's actions affected obama's presidency and how clinton's actions affected bush's presidency, etc., then i don't know what to tell you. the problems that existed on 1/19/08 existed the next day and didn't crop up overnight. thus, they can't go away overnight either.

oh and i'm so sure none of those guys would've started collecting social security regardless. statistics like these are worthless. yes a percentage of them are only collecting the benefits because they can't find a job and their unemployment has run out. but not all. but 5.4 million is a nice big number that they can throw in a headline for shock value. all it means is 5.4 million people started collecting social security.

and it covers all new enrollees since he became president, yet the headline makes it sound like 5.4 million people showed up at ssi offices yesterday to enroll or something. let's not forget that the huge baby boomer population is now reaching retirement age and is starting to qualify for these benefits so we'd naturally see a rise in enrollees even during a surplus as compared to 10-15 years ago.

You have terrible heuristics. I assume starting a giant financial crisis was a great George W. Bush policy because it made gas prices crash? Maybe Obama should do it?

Also hope you don't complain about Mid East policy. Guess what motivates American bad ideas overseas? Keeping gas prices low...

Yes, recession only describes when an economy is shrinking. The economy stopped shrinking in 09 but the depth of the recession was such that it will take years to return to pre-recession employment levels, if ever.
