The constitutionality of the Massachusetts law isn't in question as it pertains only to citizens of Massachusetts. States can compel its citizens to buy car insurance for example. At question is the authority of the federal government to compel the purchase of insurance using the Commerce Clause.
Thanks, Commerce Clause was on the tip of my tongue when I was trying to write that.

True story, I went to Japan once, I met this this nice Japanese woman named Miyumi, I asked her if she had even been to America, she said no.

My brother told me she had been to Hawaii 3 times,
they considered it a colony.

Have you been to Hawaii lately?
Nothing but Japanese and Chinese tourists.

^ Haha, that was my first thought too..."well, he wasn't too far off"...it really is a hybrid culture throughout the state like no place else in the US, not just a question of an "Asian flavor" to the culture or something.

Hawaii just might be my favorite place in the United States.

Many states' electoral votes have changed due to the 2010 census with states gaining votes being blue states and those losing votes being Obama states. So factor that into your numbers.

I did. The numbers I posted are the 2010 allotments.

Concerning Ohio and Florida, the latest Rasmussen poll has Obama losing both to a generic Republican candidate along with Pennsylvania. Obviously, that scenario would be certain doom for him. I really do think he can lose both Ohio and Florida though and still win the election. As long as he has Pennsylvania and the obvious blue states, he only needs to flip a mid-level one or two.

Florida will certainly go to the Republican challenger. No question. So many old people will be drinking up their Fox News into the election's lead-up and it was one of the weakest Obama victories in the 2008 election. He has no chance there and should not spend a lot of money in Florida, but I'm sure they'll waste a ton there. Ohio is far easier to win and the one to shoot for.

Assuming Romney's the nominee, I think you can right-off-the-bat switch Florida, Virginia, Indiana and New Hampshire from blue to red (a total of 57) making it roughly 310-ish to 220-ish.

The above post is probably correct, that it would be smart for Obama to forget some states and just make sure he hangs on to PA, OH, WI, maybe a couple others. But if the economy tanks again and he can't win those rust belt states, which is how he won in 2008, he may need some backups. He may have to go down to Florida and try to scare senior citizens after all.

Obama will definitely have to do some work in Florida. His stance on not consistently going down on Israel with sexy anti-Palestine rhetoric (sorry, AchtungBiBi) has soured his image for many right-wing old Jews.

But I thought NASCAR fans generally turned to the left.

(I totally stole that from another site, but it was too good not to share.)

I swear I saw a picture of Gillard tapping Obama on the backside.

She was standing there with a member of the US military and there to advance the cause of supporting military families. For that reason they could have held off on the booing, if for no other reason.

i guess nascar people are racist, it can not be that they despise american hating race bating treasonous communists.

Screw Chubacca and the camel she rode in on.

Michelle thought NASCAR was the National Association of Socialist Communist African Racers. Oops!

i don't see it, deep. all i'm reading is the valid points of upstanding citizens

evict the mother in law, the kids, barry, mooch and the pooch. 1/20/13 the end of an error.

what did bo ever do?

^I have yet to hear the term "uppity" used without the racial connotation.

Reading his comment it was clear to met that Limbaugh was creating an image of high-spending Negros overjoyed at the access to privileges far beyond their ability to handle.

Shameful.

Was Nancy Reagan "uppity" with all her china and clothes and the rest?

If it was a Republican first lady who took up the cause of obesity I don't think these people would be saying she was "uppity" and telling people what to eat. Don't know about anyone else but I still eat whatever I want and I never once think about what Michelle wants me to eat. I like her but she's not the boss of me. Get over it Rush.

I agree, it's shameful..the connotations. I'm sure all the white Presidents have lived spartan lifestyles with none of those privileges.

Nancy Regan wasn't black so she couldn't be uppity. She can most certainly refer to people as being uppity..but only if were in the 1880s and we were in Georgia
