President Barack Obama will be on “The View” on July 29.

It’s the first time ever a sitting president has visited a daytime talk show.

Barbara Walters, who underwent heart valve replacement surgery in May, was scheduled to return to the program in September, but will be in the studio for this special show.

Walters said, “We are so pleased and honored that President Obama will be a guest on ‘The View.’ The President last appeared on the program in March 2008 while he was still a Senator, and First Lady Michelle Obama was a featured guest co-host in June 2008. This shows that both the President and First Lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news.”

The interview will be taped a day earlier, and is slated to touch on such subjects as the economy, the Gulf oil spill, jobs, and family life inside the White House.

Anybody watch Obama on the View?

I'm watching it now on DVR.

He's very much a politician, but I find it hard to understand the animosity some people have towards him. He sounds quite reasonable, no?

Good questions from the hosts.

He's a very charming man

I think some people have such pre existing animosity that they aren't even willing to give him a chance. I haven't agreed with everything that he's said and done and I don't know that I'd even vote for him again (depends upon the alternatives). But I don't quite understand the animosity either. Much of it seems to be from notions of who he is that don't always match up with reality.

Weren't The View questions pretty much softballs from a favorable (other than EH) audience?

AP JUNEAU, Alaska — Sarah Palin is criticizing President Barack Obama for appearing on "The View."

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said Thursday on Twitter that Obama has "no time" to visit the U.S.-Mexico border yet can chat on the ABC daytime talk show.

She says she plans to visit to what she calls the "porous" border "in the near future." She wasn't specific.

A White House spokesman didn't immediately offer comment.

The administration has taken steps to address the border security issue, including Obama's decision that will send 1,200 National Guard troops to the region this weekend.

Palin has taken shots at Obama before, including over his handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and what she called his lack of executive experience before assuming the presidency.

I don't think so. They asked him about Afghanistan, about the economy. I thought they were good questions for the most part. To be honest I wasn't really impressed with Elisabeth Hasselback's questions about the "saved jobs." I think there ARE tough questions to ask the president, but it seems like the Right has dropped tough questions in favor of nonsense questions. Her (and others on the conservative camp) making a big issue out of "saved jobs" is silly. All saved jobs means is that the recession would have been a lot worse if it hadn't been for the bailouts/stimulus. Yes, we've lost jobs but we would have lost a lot more. And the Republican criticism of the stimulus is hypocritical because it's unlikely that McCain would have done anything very differently.

But I digress. I thought the questions (except for the silly pop culture ones--thank goodness, the President didn't know who Snooki is. I would have been worried then) were as good as they could be.

Not a fan, I take it.

I think this may be the only time I've ever watched it. I don't know enough about the program to judge it for good or ill.

The Republican National Committee is taking aim at President Obama with a line of attack accusing the White House of spending a disproportionate amount of time talking about MTV hit reality show "Jersey Shore" when the issue of the economy should be taking center stage.

"Less GTL, More GDP Mr. President" is the message the RNC hurled at the Obama administration in a "research briefing" and video montage released by the organization on Friday.

Yes. The man should never talk about anything social(ism); just talk about fixing things. Because his words to the press will fix things right then, right now. Except if he does talk about the economy, they're just going to rail on him for being incorrect anyway.

The past two years has made me sick of the whole process.

Fucking morons indeed.

Another cheap shot.

I'm all for the Republicans encouraging Obama to speak solely about the issues. That's usually when he schools them (see: conference with Obama and Republicans).

Do not be fooled by the American look of shades and baseball cap. He is an African socialist who hates freedom.
