For the Dems:

Romney, Obama.

For those following the news, a Federal judge has upheld the legality of holding caucuses in casinos, and the casino and hospitality union backs Barack.

Naturally I'd love Obama to win, but after NH I won't make any predictions.

By the way, I had a dream last night involving the Romney family and they vowed to destroy Israel

OK so it was more of a nightmare than a dream.

ETA-I think this means I've been watching too much MSNBC...:shifty:

Romney will win because Nevada is next door to the Mormon mecca that is Utah.

I'm hoping Obama can pull it off with the judge's ruling, undecided voters and independent voters swinging his way.

You do know this is a prediction thread, not a "Who I Want to Win Thread," right?

I mean, support him all you want, but c'mon, he's got no shot.

Did you honestly think Paul had a shot?

I mean, really?

Yup. Look what happened to Clinton in N.H. or McCain or Huckabee who were nowhere in the summer and now are top tier. Look what happened to Giuliani. I don't see you asking anyone else about their predictions.

Nevada GOP dismisses Paul complaint

By Michael Levenson, Globe Staff

LAS VEGAS -- Ron Paul, other than Mitt Romney the only Republican actively campaigning for Saturday's Republican caucuses in Nevada, called this afternoon for the state party to consider postponing the contest due to "multiple inconsistencies."

But the state Republican Party immediately dismissed the allegations and said the caucus would go on as planned.

"We would hope that the Paul campaign would go act like adults and not try to set up straw men to make up for their lack of organizing," said Steve Wark, a caucus spokesman.

The Paul campaign complained that voters have received postcards with incorrect caucus locations, that eligibility requirements to participate have been changed several times, and that several rural counties could run out of ballots.

"The inconsistencies, errors and multiple changes in the rules reek of playing politics with the what should be a neutral process," said campaign manager Lew Moore said in a statement. "The people of Nevada deserve to know exactly what the rules are and to know that those rules are being fairly enforced. This has not happened up to this point, and the caucus appears to be in chaos."

YES SHE CAN!

Clinton Wins Nevada Caucuses

Jan. 19, 2008(CBS/AP) CBS News estimates that Sen. Hillary Clinton will win the Nevada Democratic caucuses. CBS News also estimates that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will win the Nevada Republican caucuses.
According to CBS News entrance polls, the economy was the issue most on the minds of Democratic caucus-goers today, ahead of health care and the war in Iraq.

More than one in four Democratic voters were members of a union household. Fourty-three percent of union voters said they favored Clinton, while 29 percent favored Obama.

More than half of women said they were backing Clinton in today's caucuses, while men were more divided in their support.

Clinton won in New Hampshire and scored a victory in the largely meaningless Democratic race in Michigan where Obama and Edwards had withdrawn their names from the ballot after the national party stripped the state of its delegates for violating party rules by moving up its primary date.

Going into Nevada's contest, a poll Friday showed Clinton leading in the state with 41 percent while Obama trailed with 32 percent. But the survey by Mason-Dixon showed about 10 percent of likely caucus-goers still undecided. Edwards had 14 percent. Other polls have shown the three in a statistical dead heat.

Looks like she carried the women's vote again (by a good margin). I think that a lot of younger people are really misreading older women and the context in which they are voting and the drive to show up to the polls.

looks like she carried the most votes

(votes are like dollar bills, they each have the same exact value)

in a convoluted, f-ed up, bogus, caucus sham

a caucus where people gather in a room and divided into groups and then any group that has less than 25% gets to join larger group that is soliciting them with god only knows what?
tacos, ice cream, fresh baked cookies, Obama girls in tight sweaters

this is a legitimate way to select a Presidential Candidate?

slogans and the like
don't really amount to a hill of beans

At least its not as bad as:

"I hate Osama, Obama and Chelsea's mama"

Not only is it childish, its not even funny! Its the stupidest thing i've ever read in my life. Whoever came up with that should lose their right to vote.

I don't know
when I was in West Hollywood in 2000

I saw a sign
against George Bush and Dick Cheney it read:

Lick Bush
Beat Dick
in 2000

The Nevada entrance poll says 59% of the Dem voters were female, and 68% were over age 45.

I saw a bit of one caucus (precinct?) on CNN. It looked ridiculous and if we saw something akin to it in the developing world, we'd probably send in an oversight commission.

We need an oversight commission to look at the voting machine fraud that takes place. In the NH recount, memory cards were missing and ballot boxes were unsealed and some had slits in them. I'd much rather have a transparent process.

After 2000,
one would have thought that it would have gone this direction

but what did they learn?

a paper trail, even with hanging chads, almost prevented them from their claim? of victory

the process was corrected so any theft would not leave any physical evidence

Ron Paul is taking out McCain!!!!

And Mitt is winning. Fuck :(

If this ends up being a Romney / Clinton general election, America is fucked. Fucked.
