Speaking of that Cartoon, I had a friend. Sunni Muslim from Morocco and he agreed that the Cartoonist needs to die for that insult, I was disgusted.

Then we would not burn effigys, call for Jihads or crusades etc...
This is theory vs. reality. While living in reality you should educate yourself about reality, and still dream. One who lives in either extreme will get lost.

I think this has been way over blown and the pope and Imams need to go sit down and have a conversation for both to understand each other.

What we need is people from both religions who are willing to talk to each other. There has been a massive communication breakdown.

What would be really smart is for religous leader to hold huge seminars for people to really grasp the religion.

Vert I know you are more expert than me in Islam, but is it true, yes or no and if you could explain, did Mohhamed ever go around and start wars and convert people? Or was clerics? I am talking about the past.

No one should be really surprised about the Pope's comments. Back in his past life as "Cardinal Ratzinger," he wrote several essays making known his distaste for ecumenism. I'd say that, while the Vatican is quickly trying to do damage control currently, the Pope's rather medieval mindset is precisely the kind of comment I'd expect from the man formerly known as "Cardinal Ratzinger."

A fancy dress and a promotion cannot change who he is at his core; and now he's opened a Pandora's Box that I think he's going to have a hard time closing.

No. The thing is that Jesus isn't just a Jewish carpenter. He's a little more important than that. This thread has really taken a strange turn.

Well I was giving an example I know he was more important than just being a carpenter. He did not find his way until he left for the desert for 40 days and nights.

Here's the thing:

You look at the Muslim world, and see jihadists, terrorists, and extremists. As such, you hate them.

The Muslim world looks at the West, and remembers colonialism, the forceful creation of Israel that evicted Muslim landowners without consultation or payment, and wars that have killed thousands of their people. As such, they hate us.

When an Israeli is killed, it makes front page news in the West. It is seen as "collateral damage" in the Muslim world. When a Muslim is killed, whether in the West Bank/Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, or Afghanistan, it is seen as "collateral damage" in the Western world. It makes front page news in the Muslim world.

That's why I got a very great laugh at when the Bush Administration chided Al-Jazeera and called it "biased," because the Muslim world looks at Western media and calls it the exact same thing.

No. I don't think Jesus was just another Jewish carpenter, either. He's a little more important than that. If you drew pictures of Him I don't think I'd laugh too hard, though.
