The very fact that the Pope is able to function the way he is, with all of his health problems, is just amazing to me. It's an inspiration to anyone with health problems. They don't have to interrupt your life.

I don't think it will be too much longer now. Then the conclave is going to be really strange.

Yes, I really do feel the pope is entering his final hours now. How sad that he has had so much suffering. I really hope he remains peaceful and as painfree as possible.

I've read a lot of negative things about the pope on another site and that makes e very sad. For people under 30, this is the only pope they have known. He is in a great deal of pain, and has been for a long time, and yet he has remained a powerful and influential figure. He has not given up and he's not letting illness beat him down. He continues working even in the final stages of his life. He has shown a great risiliance. Regardless of what you all personally think of his stance on things, he has really went out and met people all over the world and really touched their lives. Even my Dad, a man who isn't religous, still talks about seeing the pope in Drogheda. I personally think he is an iconic figure of the 20th century.

Pray for our beautiful pope! who lived as a christian in a communist, thus aetheist country for so many years. Pray also for all political prisoners of conscience who still live in these conditions throughout the world, especially Cuba!

I got an e-mail from EWTN that the Pope has died. They already have a special prayer series planned for the interregnum.

I am not a Christian, nor of any other religion, and as such, the Pope has never really been an important figure in my life. However, he is a very important figure the lives of countless other people, and if/when he dies(cnn.com and msn.com say only that his condition has worsened, contrary to reports that he had already passed), they will be losing someone important to them, and that has to be respected. Death is always sad.

CNN is now reporting that the Vatican has denied that he died. I'm not Catholic, but I know many people who are and they're torn up about this and this back and forth crap isn't good for anyone.
