Wasn't that cool? To announce in 2004 you're not for slavery?!

I get impatient with these things, its a major weakness,
but I just loved Kerry's answer to the question about abortion and GB's contrast case reply.
I didn't really have to stay to listen to Bush's whole answer because he announced it, to stay fixed there forever, in the sentence he started it with.
I guess that either appeals to you, indicating strength and commitment, or it doesn't:no:
cheers all!

and forgive my ignorance, but what's the 4th ammendment? and what does it have to do with the others, if anything?
isn't thefirst ammendment the freespeech thing? the guy asking the question seemed really nervous, but why didn't the person to whom he was speaking...gb himself...either catch it or ask for clarification? maybe it had nothing to do at all with the bloody patriot act. you never know if you don't ask, do you?
it's hard to ask questions, when they're potentially embarassing especially, but it can be fun if you don't care what the 'answerer' might say, no?

cheers again to all!

(and love and peace, of course...)

Ok, I'm here watching the debate and while I'm trying to concentrate on what these guys are saying, I must say Kerry's suit is BEAUTIFUL! I don't know... maybe it's the fabric, the cut, the fit... I'm mesmerized! That thing fits like a glove with little or no creases!

Poor Bush almost looks dumpy in comparison (although I do like the color and his tie very much).

So, what does this say about me?!

I don't know, but Kerry is looking lovely tonight to me as well!

cheers!

The blond girl saved GW's skin tonight.

Mark my words.
Kerry was too squimish on Partail Abortion Ban issue.

GW wins on being cosistent and not wiggiling or waffling on the toughest questions.
Kerry look like one of those tele evangaliclcal preachers.

GW connected w/the Heart and Soul of America in a small room of undecided voters this evening.

I have a ticket to the 3rd Presidential Debate in Tempe Az.
I will report from ringside next week if necessary.

I'm kind of puzzled, but maybe he consulted some people and got some grooming tips? (After all, he's gotta stand next to that legendery hunk, John Edwards.)

Bush did better than I thought he would, but I still think Kerry won. (imo)

What the polls will say I don't know.

George Bush was scaring me at the beginning. I felt like he was preaching at me, a total turn off. Then the way he cut of nice mr. Charlie Gibson was just way out of line.

"inhuman" debate?

I dunno, why are the pundits (at least the matthews bunch) saying this was really bad, that there was no humanity in that debate? that it was too reasonable, that there wasn't any...what was it, bill clinton feel-your-pain stuff, really connecting to the voters, with quotes and fake knowledges about sally jones who lives in ctown and eats catfood orwhatever...that's all fucking fake pain, isn't it? Or am I missing something?
What is so fake about as they said it 'citizens' trying really hard to stand up, ask their question, not fuck up, just speak the question they wrote, they thought up, trying to look dignified?
kerry, these pundits seemed to *already* be complaining (!) wasn't warm enough, too blue and not khaki or whatever. didn't vibe whatever the vibe was supposed to be, I guesswhatever the pundits thought it was supposed tobe.
These people were gorgeous, trying not to mis-speak, sometimes doing so, some read them better some worse, some looked a little sweaty some were all in black, whatever.
One woman with red hair even smiled a bit too much and almost seemed to giggle. I didn't understand it, but it was what she did to keep it together in the face of the bigguns.
THe least human moments of this debate to me were when GB pretended to be a cowboy for godsake. with his arms so inexplicably poised at his sides, and saying 'missoura' as if he actually ever does that aroundconference tables at the whitehouse.
kerry stood up there, it seemed to me, and was just himself.
I'm heading off again to listen to what the pundits are telling us we should think, hope everyone's enjoyed the show tonight!

cheers all!

I believe polls re: who won will be in favour of Kerry.

It is very off putting to be screamed at and every TV anchor is calling Bush on it tonight.

isn't thefirst ammendment the freespeech thing?

I wasn't sure what the 4th Amendment was either, but I just looked it up and it's: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

And, yes, the first amendment includes the right to free speech.

Somebody on Fox News Channel called it a draw.

W will do ok with this debate.

Each side will say their guy won.

W gets a head start because everybody knows how poorly he speaks or should I say misspeaks.

If W stopped Canadin drugs now he would lose big.

He will do it after the election.

I read alot about unsafe Canadian Drugs, there are frequent deaths in Canada from these cheap drugs.

Looks like all the polls are saying Kerry again.

CNN
Who won the second presidential debate?

President Bush 16% 14147 votes
John Kerry 83% 73818 votes
Evenly matched 2% 1363 votes
Total: 89328 votes

MSNBC
Pres. Bush 26%
Sen. Kerry 74%

CBS News
Who won the debate?

President Bush: 11.51%
John Kerry: 88.10%
Neither man. It was a draw: 0.38%

Those were the only 3 I could find at this point.

But that mass e-mail by the Kerry campaign telling people to flood online polls really makes thost pointless. Wait until there has been proper polling.

rant

there is NO way Kerry won.

those polls are slanted by Kerry supporters.

We will know soon enough that the President is who the American people prefer

not a Liberal.

I would like W to explain just how these drugs, a lot of which are imported FROM the US in the first place, suddenly become dangerous when they cross the border?

Are American and Canadian bodies somehow different? Are we resistent to drugs that have crossed the Canadian border?

I'm sorry, are you referring to this:

I am still doing the research on this one.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt Bush was screamy. And I actually like Kerry's answer to the abortion question. It's funny, I never thougth I'd say this about a politician, but I fell the EXACT same way. I believe abortion is wrong but, like Kerry, I believe all Americans should be represented, not just the Catholic ones. He may lose votes for that but they were votes he never had. As for Bush, in addition to the screaming, he was just laughable. My opponent Sen. Kennedy? Poland is now back in the coalition even though they're pulling out? The environment is better? My ass it is.

That being said, I think Kerry has only a slight lead out of this debate, not the big one he had last week. He did a great job answering questions -- I think Bush flubbed several such as the Supreme Court question and the fact that he couldn't name ONE mistake let alone three. That being said, thsi was a town hall where you connect with the people but I don't think either really connected on a personal level -- this was something Bill was a genius at. And Kerry missed opportunities. REALLY bad jobs number he should have mentioned more.

The overall issue is this was a must win for Bush and he brought his average, not his spectacular. he did the same thing Gore did four years ago -- swung from one extreme to the other. With Gore, he went from being moody and sighing to being agreeable. With Bush, he went from boring to totally confrontational. The door is still open but if Bush can't find a medium between the two extremes by Arizona, he's toast.
