point taken, but it also shows that the shreiking about anything other than the status quo is tantamount to a total removal of all American troops from the region is completely bogus. there are alternatives to the status quo non-strategy strategy, we just need to deal with them and choose the best course of action, which we already know isn't the present one.
 
When folks like John Warner have serious reservations about the new strategy, I take notice.

It's extremely disturbing that Lt. Gen. David Petraeus could be confirmed 81-0 in the Senate, while many of these same senators are racing to sign onto some toothless resolution that completely slams the plan that Petraeus brings to the table.
