I think you missed the context of her argument.

Since it's been brought up:

the point is that the EU has better health than we do, and their citizens don't go bankrupt paying bills because they're so poor and stupid they get cancer.

Better health how? One less death, and a lower cancer survival rate? Great. Or is it the one year longer life expectancy?

yes, they have better health because of the things you've noted, as well as lower incidents of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

AND they don't go bankrupt paying for their child's chemo.

you're really not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you.

How much are you willing to pay out of pocket in taxes for "free" healthcare so that our numbers stay the same?

considering i purchase my own healthcare at $200 a month, probably about that much.

and, again chief, it's not about the numbers, it's about the fact that the #1 cause of bankruptcy in the US is sky-high medical bills, *and* the fact that health insurance costs are going to continue to skyrocket unless there's an actual alternative to the profit-driven insurance industry.

Given overall population numbers, that's pretty big...

And I'm pretty sure name calling isn't allowed.

No. It's time to get tough. People need to take care of themselves. No more blaming anyone else for your fuckups or shitty situations. Take responsibility.
