Non-romantic love.

Do you have this for people who don't know you?
How do you show it?
Is it self-satisfying?
How can someone with a very limited amount of resources show non-romantic love to stangers?
Does it matter that you get nothing in return?

Discuss.

Do I feel (nonromantic) love for strangers who have not affected me in some way? No, probably not. But I can feel some common humanity. I doubt that it is very important to them what I feel.
I can give to a stranger, I can acknowledge them in some way, provide some assistance, give even a small donation, contribute some time. Does my contribution make much of a difference in the scheme of things? Probably not. Some vague self-satisfaction, I guess. It makes me feel part of the whole of humanity and that has an importance to me. And I guess if millions of people do their tiny part, it can make a difference.
It doesn't matter that they don't know or give a fig abut me.

But what are you getting at here, Macfist? The actual giving, the peer pressure to say you feel love for someone who has no real connection to you?

Just interested in attitudes and methods, no strings attached.
