The A.N.Z.A.C.
We cannot shoot, we won't salute
What bloody use are we?"

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

thank you, Angela Harlem

I know of the genocide and of A.N.Z.A.C.'s heroic resistance, but for others, could you post a link for them to learn more ?

Wow, I'm surprised (but not really lol) and glad you know about them Jamila! :)

This link is the basic gist of what happened when the troops landed at Gallipoli. It's become a very important date, April 25th, to both Australia and New Zealand, and over time it has evolved into a rememberance for all our servicemen and women.

Im sorry but what do you mean by genocide? Just curious.

All I can figure is the Turkish genocide of Armenians but that was not connected to the Dardanelles campaign. I don't entirely agree with the Gallipoli fixation, it is definitely a significant piece of the history but making it more or less the only piece that is focused on seems narrow. My own ancestors who served in the Great War were fighting in Continental Europe on the Somme.
