Jury Reaches Verdict in Peterson Case

REDWOOD CITY, California (CNN) -- The jury in the Scott Peterson double murder trial has reached a verdict, which is expected to be announced later today.

Peterson, 32, is accused of killing his 27-year-old Laci, who was eight months pregnant, on or about Christmas Eve of 2002 and dumping her body into San Francisco Bay.

The verdict was expected to be read at 1 p.m. local time (4 p.m. ET).

I'm glad he was found guilty, it's pretty obvious he did it and it's just a sick thing to do. He deserves to spend the remainder of his life behind bars, eating stale jail food and living in fear of being assraped. But no captial punishment. I don't believe in it. Period. Not for anybody not named Osama.

I don't think he's crazy at all-scumbag for sure, but I think he's a complete narcissist and egomaniac, and possibly a sociopath. If that makes him crazy, then he's definitely crazy.

I hope Laci's family can get some small comfort. I just think of the reactions of the Goldman and Brown families all those years ago. I'm sure they wish they could have had what Laci's family got today.

I just hope and pray any and all appeals are shot down

I'm a parent and I'm watching my little girl who is sitting next to me color and how anyone could murder a child, let alone their own flesh and blood is so beyond me.

thank you... if there was DNA evidence, a murder weapon... hell... if they could even tell me exactly how scott killed laci, then i'm with you... hang him by his toes and stone him. but there's nothing.. it's all circumstantial evidence. i found it hard to believe that a jury was gonna convict him on circustantial evidence to begin with, even though i feel he's guilty. i find it even harder to believe that they're gonna vote to kill him, even though i believe he deserves to die.

Yes, there was circumstantial evidence but there was ALOT of it including him telling a friend he was hoping she was infertile and going out fishing when no one knew he bought a boat and fished. And of course, trying to sell his house and Laci's car six months after she disappeared. You wouldn't be selling the house if you thought she was coming back.

That being said, I think you're right Headache. It's one thing to convict someone of murder with no murder weapon. It's a different animal when you try to fry the guy. I say no death penalty -- let the guy rot. It's much less humane than a simple needle in the arm.

For someone as self-centered as Scott Peterson, life in prison will make him suffer much more than a death sentence. Lock him in a cell and let him think about the next 50 years with no golf, no beer, no porn and especially no ass (of the female variety anyway) and his life will be hell...a quick death is too easy.
