A Democratic governor from the South? Warner's not running, and the governor of Louisiana is a lousy Democratic governor. They may have to pull a candidate out of a hat.

Is Deval Patrick the incredibly eloquent guy with the stunning wife? I can't recall if it was him or Obama I am thinking of. And is Obama the one who lived as his constituents in a flea pit block of flats with no hot water when he was mayor...or something?

No, Obama's never been a mayor. He was a state senator in Illinois when he was elected to the Senate.

don't you see? only people who have served in the military know anything about anything. and we must believe everything they say because the military never lies about anything.

Obama is the incrdibly eloquent guywith the stunning wife.

he's the son of a white girl from Kansas and an African immigrant from Kenya.

he also spent part of his childhood living in Indonesia.

he's being called "the black RFK."

he's going to be a big deal.

So nobody here wants Kooch?

Actually I'm torn between Kucinich and Obama. If Obama runs, I'd feel like a dirty dirty whore.

The problem with Clark is that he was a General with a long military career. The liberal wing of the Democratic party does not like that. He has a greater uphill battle in winning the nomination than in the Democratic party than McCain has in the Republican party. His name recognition is also lower than even Obama at the moment I think. But, if he were to win the nomination, he would have the best chance against McCain.

Clark's military experience, being from the south, are attributes that can offset McCains and attract voters who would not usually vote for a Democrat. Neither party is going to win with its base in 2008, they are both going to have to find a way to reach independents and members of the other party. A ticket like Clark/Edwards would be far more competitive than Clinton/Obama.

If the GOP has to rely on independents then it will be quite doomed.

Not true if the LA times poll is accurate. McCain picks up 50% of independents, Hillary can only get 32% of them. In fact, if only independents could vote in the election, McCain would win by an even larger landslide.

Ah, good then. I liked both of them from what I've seen.

Was/is Deval Patrick the mayor or something or other in or around New Jersey? I swear I'm not inventing people! One of your polis' have undertaken a fascinating learning project on this by living as the poorer of the community do. He was on Oprah - it must be true!

I love Kooch and am glad he is running to keep the left left and issues I hold dear at the forefront. It does not matter that he does not have a snowballs chance in hell just that he can stear some of the debates. I'll vote for him in the primary just to let the party know there are still some of us lefties out here.
In the end, I hope Obama gets it. That way I have a chance to throw a vote at each (maybe this is a way for you to avoid that pesky dirty whore feeling, redhotswami )
