A question about salaries and costs:

For example (and a rather poor one at that), a chocolate bar here (Canada) costs $1.00 (Cdn). In the UK, the same bar costs 1.00 pound sterling. That's approx $2.23 Cdn dollars. Rather expensive. Is it expensive in England?

What I'm wondering is if this is all relative. So, if I had a job as a teacher here in Canada and made $60,000.00 a year, that's Cdn dollars when converted to British pounds. So, would the same teacher in England make 26,000 pounds (i.e. $60,000 Cdn converted to pounds) or 60,000 pounds (which would be relative. Thus, to thie British person making 60,000 pounds, the chocolate bar is cheap)?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. It's hard to explain.

I think it is miss thong. But then the example of London makes it slightly more skewed as it's an expensive place to live isn't it?
