Iranian Jews criticise Iran President's statements

Yashayaei is a brave guy. Iranian-American Jews seem to regard him as a hero of sorts. He was in prison with Ayatollah Khomeini in the 1960s, and apparently the two of them actually struck up somewhat of a friendship at that point, though clearly this didn't come to that much, as it didn't stop Jews from being persecuted and terrorized with Khomeini's blessing when the Revolution broke out. Most of the community fled to the US or Israel at that time. Eventually Khomeini softened up a bit and said, Well OK, as long as you're nice observant Jews and not Zionists. I don't know if he and Yashayei ever got back on speaking terms but anyways, supposedly Yashayei has more clout and wiggle room with the mullahs than anyone else in that community.

It's still a risky move, though.
