Good. That is why she is my favourite. Much easier than picking your favourite child.

As always, gay marriage threads produce voluminous commentary.

I’m not sure what bearing a change in the age of consent would have over what has traditionally been deemed a marriage. The two concepts are not inseparable, and really create a side issue to a very basic point.

A couple of points on the theological issues touch upon in this thread. First, the concept of sin is not defined as things we choose. It is defined as things God declares to be unholy. We often confuse the argument with what God ought to say, instead of what God did say.

Second, we are creating a false argument that “homosexuality is not a sin because I do not believe it is a sin, but I am a Christian. Therefore, if you call it a sin, you are telling me I am not a Christian.” I think Christians can have an honest debate on Scriptural understanding and application.

Welcome to FYM.

The very nature of forum discussion allows a poster to isolate a comment (such as I have here) and go off on a tangent. There is also opportunity for the little "I'm glad you called him stupid, so I wouldn't have to call him stupid" type posts - cheerleading for another poster who gets rude or offensive while supporting the majority opinion. By and large we have civilized discussion here. But there are also (and we would be dishonest NOT to acknowledge it) plenty of dismissive comments to deride a poster, not further a discussion.

The quickest response possible is usually not the best thought out response. Getting caught up with the “snappy” responses can be very frustrating. If people complain that your comment is offensive, perhaps it hits too close to home for some posts.

the very basic point is that marriage is far from a static institution and that it changes and evolves over time -- what was legal is now illegal, you know, despite thousands of years of tradition. the same thing with the very revolutionary idea of marrying for love. or marrying out of choice.

basically, it reveals the ignorance behind the professed desire by some to view the "biblical definition" of marraige as somehow preferable. might Jesus's rules about submission have been more applicable 2,000 years ago?

Your actions always back up my words.

I guess the substance of what I said is not disputed.

it must be liberating to be exempt from the rules you've determined govern the rest of us.

it provides so much self-awareness.

They are simply observations.

I guess they carry a little sting.

I love it when people march in, insult a whole class of people as if they are all mentally ill atheists who worship Satan, and then play the victim when those same people fight back.

But hey...welcome to FYM!

Would you care to elaborate (or simply quote) the post where the above argument is made? I know these threads go by quickly, but I don't recall anyone raising the Satan worshiping issue.
