Frankly I think that the sad fact is that the US relationship with the Saudies is a case of the devil you know. The only way to remove that dependency is to work the broader region and open the path to true democratic governance, then and only then will the desired change occur and the Wahabbist state be discontinued. It is simply unrealistic to say that the US should cut all ties to SA and/or put enough pressure to topple the regime, the concequences of that action would be a big negative for the region and could drag big sections into conflict.
