WASHINGTON – While the military "quagmire" in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

Though no federal statistics are kept on murders or any other crimes committed by illegal aliens, a number of groups have produced estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense

But the carnage wrought by illegal alien murderers represents only a fraction of the pool of blood spilled by American citizens as a result of an open border and un-enforced immigration laws.

While King reports 12 Americans are murdered daily by illegal aliens, he says 13 are killed by drunk illegal alien drivers – for another annual death toll of 4,745. That's 23,725 since Sept. 11, 2001.

While no one – in or out of government – tracks all U.S. accidents caused by illegal aliens, the statistical and anecdotal evidence suggests many of last year's 42,636 road deaths involved illegal aliens.

A report by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Study found 20 percent of fatal accidents involve at least one driver who lacks a valid license. In California, another study showed that those who have never held a valid license are about five times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than licensed drivers.

Statistically, that makes them an even greater danger on the road than drivers whose licenses have been suspended or revoked – and nearly as dangerous as drunk drivers.

King also reports eight American children are victims of sexual abuse by illegal aliens every day – a total of 2,920 annually.

Based on a one-year in-depth study, Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. She analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.

As the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. increases, so does the number of American victims.

According to Edwin Rubenstien, president of ESR Research Economic Consultants, in Indianapolis in 1980, federal and state correctional facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens. But at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in all U.S. jails and prisons.

While the federal government doesn't track illegal alien murders, illegal alien rapes or illegal alien drunk driving deaths, it has studied illegal aliens incarcerated in U.S. prisons.

In April 2005, the Government Accountability Office released a report on a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local facilities during 2003. It found the following:

The 55,322 illegal aliens studied represented a total of 459,614 arrests – some eight arrests per illegal alien;
Their arrests represented a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses – some 13 offenses per illegal alien;
36 percent had been arrested at least five times before.
"While the vast majority of illegal aliens are decent people who work hard and are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, (something you or I would probably do if we were in their place), it is also a fact that a disproportionately high percentage of illegal aliens are criminals and sexual predators," states Peter Wagner, author of a new report called "The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration." "That is part of the dark side of illegal immigration and when we allow the 'good' in we get the 'bad' along with them. The question is, how much 'bad' is acceptable and at what price?"

Doesn't appear to be an objective source for the statistics provided. We'd need to track it back before I give it any validity. Research looks a little shoddy and disingenuous. Give me better stats.

Although it isn't really funny, this bit is so true I couldn't help but laugh:

She's projecting these figures on a percentage of "apprehended" illegals, not the illegal population as a whole. I don't know the numbers. Point is nobody knows the numbers. And based on these stats in this article, we still don't know the numbers.

Just 12% of the total in federal custody were there for murder, rape, robbery or other violent crimes. Regarding the claim of 45,000 Americans murdered by illegal immigrants, FBI statistics show some 85,000 murders from 9/11 to the end of 2006. If the claim by Boyles and others were true, that would mean undocumented immigrants, who make up under 4% of the U.S. population, were responsible for 53% of all murders.

All media is excessively guilty of this. The truth on crime is nowhere to be found in the media at all.
 
That's kind of what I figured, Melon. Thanks for checking this out.

I'd be generally suspicious of any study trying to quantify the effects of illegal aliens, whether positive or negative, simply because the very nature of illegals makes that type of research difficult. So when I read something about how illegals drain the economy by $X/day, or something like illegals actually benefit the economy by $X/day, I'm skeptical.

But since we're on the topic, comparing the victims of criminal illegals to war dead seems like apples and oranges. A better comparison would be the number of war dead in Iraq & Afghanistan vs. the number of deaths as a result of domestic terrorist activity.

That's not to say that it's OK that people are victims crimes committed by illegals; it's not. But trying to separate them out is a dangerous thing. It's interesting that many of the same folks who oppose hate crime laws because they supposedly minimize the gravity of "non-hate" crimes are willing to single out & elevate crimes committed by illegals, as if to say it's bad if you're murdered, but if you're murdered by an illegal it's worse. Ironic.
 
The fact that a statistic like this is measured and given any true value is ludicrous. A muderer is a murderer regardless if they snuck over here from a small Mexican town, or were born and raised in a good ol', homegrown Texas family. One doesn't take the life of another because he/she has a first language other than English; one murders because he or she has hatred, and anger in their heart. (killings in self-defense or whatnot not included)

Oh!:ohmy: *facepalm* Of course! I see the light! If Saddam Hussein wasn't an evildoer, we wouldn't have to protect our oil, I mean, ourselves from his reign of terror. He would've taken over the world!:eek: So, we had to go to war so Saddam wouldn't kill us all, but in the process those other foreigners came over and started killing our people and burning our cities to the ground. It's a snowball effect. Somebody stop the madness!!!!!!111111:scream:

Now you've got it. If it wasn't for Saddam our Guardsmen could be home patrolling the borders where they belong...instead they're off and the poor Minutemen/vigilantes doing it, and the damn libruls won't let them have the really good guns (automatics). So basically when it comes to illegals, blame Hussein...and Bill Clinton. Because it's always Clinton's fault.

It is SO unfair that we don't have the powerful guns to blow those illegal saps away. What are they doing in our lily white country anyway? Don't they know that God only smiles on the good little fundaMENTALists? We're the Chosen. If you don't pray to the flag every day, you don't belong here, baby! Mohammed Atta was legal. Status change was approved in August 2001 by the Immigration Service and notice of the approval was sent to a flight school several months after 9/11.

Six months after the September 11 attacks, a Florida flight school belatedly received notification from the Immigration and Naturalization Service that two Osama bin Laden disciples--both of whom had enrolled in a professional flight program--had been approved for student visas. The INS notifications were received Monday (3/11) by Rudi Dekkers, owner of Huffman Aviation (Dekkers provided TSG with the below copies of the INS approvals for terrorist ringleader Mohammed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi). Investigators believe that Atta and al-Shehhi piloted the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center towers. In August 2000, Huffman Aviation filed--on behalf of Atta and al-Shehhi--forms requesting that the INS switch the pair's visa status from tourist to student, a change that allowed Atta and al-Shehhi to enroll in a professional pilot program. While those applications were granted last summer, the formal notification of the approval was not sent until this month. The INS blames a bureaucratic backlog, though others might come to another conclusion. (2 pages)


9 of 19 hijackers were there legally.
At least 3 others had overstayed legal visas.
Status of the rest was unknown.
