Here on the WWW, these discussions allow us time to respond, pull up articles and facts, be able to edit and take back something we said. It's very convenient for nailing someone or something in a discussion. However, if we were to get together in person, what would our discussions be like? We wouldn't have as much time to come up with a witty response, cite facts, check facts, etc.

I think it would be pretty darn fun to have a face to face discussion with y'all...it would probably get awfully feisty, as it does here, but it would be fun.

Good question. If I was low on facts face-to-face, I'd probably change the subject or just keep repeating whatever good points I feel I have on the particular topic. Or say something off the wall, like "Hit me with the facts," because I know the opponent couldn't possibly pull that off, unless they were extraordinary or obsessed with a certain topic.

A lot of people who spend a lot of time on the internet would crumble in a face to face conversation. I know I would. I don't do well so I just start making things up and being jerk. wait a min thats not so different from being online....

My favorite line would be "No, you're wrong!"

I'd probably shut up a lot more in person, thinking it over.

My last resort comment would be "Before you go on, just to let you know, your fly is undone."

I have met several FYM regulars, including nbcrusader, and the issues discussed here rarely come up. The only person I have even been close to arguing with is a good friend, so it was okay

I'd just punch you in the face if I disagreed with you.

I kid, I kid, I kid cause I care.

I'm actually better in some aspects face to face and worse in some. I did debate for a short while and a lot of public speaking, so I'd say I'm pretty good with that aspect.

I'd prefer the face to face debate over this anyday.

I'd actually be much less confrontational in person than I am in here(I know some of you may find that hard to believe).

I think its fun to come in here and have friendly (sometimes not so friendly) discussions here. I think that the great thing about FYM is it can take people from all over the world and have intelligent conversations. I think its great and most of us would do well to talk to each other.

Easy. I wouldn't talk politics. I generally don't like to in the real world.

When I first met a bunch of interferencers at the Las Vegas show in 2001, I got alot of comments about how much nicer I was in person compared to my persona online.

That being said, I think I'd be just an opinionated in person, but more complimentary of the other person's ability to be so stupid ;). But seriously, I think I'd be more diplomatic and would fall into the role of moderator as opposed to fact-supplier.

I think if we met face-to-face, we would get along really well. For example, I have a friend at grad school who used to be a member of the Young Communists, is a die-hard socialist, and holds all sorts of views contrary to mine. However, we get along great, even if those topics come up because we can be civil in person. However, if we were only to know one another through here, I think there would be lots of clashing between us.

I think we would do just fine - and likely spend more time getting to know each other that tossing political grenades back and forth.

If discussion got too heated, I could just say, "Well, how about another round of drinks?"

Wouldn't people rather talk about anything besides the subjects that come up in here? I would..

I would just watch  For me it is so much easier to talk to people online than it is in person, unless I know someone pretty well. I think online conversation eliminates certain insecurities and awkwardness that might exist face to face.

It'd be different, but I don't think people who are nice on the Internet would instantly turn into asses in person or whatever. We'd do just fine.

Also the people I'd feel most comfortable/least uncomfortable meeting would probably be from here. I feel out of place/whatever in most of the rest of Interference

I'd like to give U2democrat and verte a hug  and maybe others I won't name

i feel pretty much the same way. if i was going to head out for a night of fizzy drinks and conversation with any of the Interference crowd, i'd be most comfortable with the FYM kids. i like this place precisely for the reasons why a lot of others avoid this place like the plague.

as for that second part: :shifty:

I'm just as big a trouble maker in person...ask Diamond and BostonAnne....

bro sox did well.

i think the girls were lost once we started delving into heavier subject matter.;)

Yeah! Me also. This is my favorite forum here. I'm always surprised when other people say FYM is scary, to me some of the other forums are far more frightening.

you don't think you're really going to get away with that, do you? (despite the winky)

I doubt I'd get political meeting any of you. If you said something I didn't agree with I'd just roll my eyes and not give you the time of day anymore like any mature adult would do.
