If we are going to get indignant over every political joke of questionable taste told at partisan fund-raisers or traditional "roasts" - it will be a long campaign indeed.

I read the whole thing in context and yes there are far too many political jokes of questionable taste being said everywhere. BUT they we're told by the same mouth that told America of their existence.

He's basically saying "oh well nothing we can do about it now".

Meanwhile there are 1,000s of people who believed we went to this war because they trusted Bush had evidence of WMDs. They sent their children and their spouses, some which never came back, and he's making light of it?

This is what Kerry should air as his campaign commercials, that way we can see if everyone else thinks Bush is funny.
