Well all three major news channels flash "armed intruder on capitol hill" or a similar message... the entire capitol complex was shut down... and it was all over a halloween costume... homeland security at work

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Staffers carrying Halloween costumes and a toy gun triggered a major security alert at the U.S. Capitol that prompted police to lock down an office building and search it room by room, police said on Thursday.

Does this mean we can expect a pre-emptive strike on toystores soon?

The thing is, they didn't even look at the screen over the x-ray machine and see the "gun" until after the guy had disappeared down the hall.

The halls in Cannon are pretty long, so the police were obviously just really slow.

It's typical, really. Capitol Hill security...
