Who else is gonna :corn: while watching the talking heads on FOX chew kitty litter over the Cactus Caucus tonight?

"America" - 1 shot
"God" - 1 shot
"Freedom" - 2 shots
"War on Terror" - 2 shots
erroneously blame something on Obama - 2 shots
Sarah Palin talks - 3 shots
someone praises G.W. Bush - 4 shots
someone lovingly reminisces about the Gipper - 4 shots

Oooh, any time someone new walks onstage wearing an American Flag pin, take a shot.

Why opt for journalists on such an important night? May I instead suggest the crack election team of Shultz, Maddow, O'Donnell, Sharpton and Matthews- covering the results from all angles: from the "Give us our orders, Mr. President" left to the "I am a socialist" left.

I really hope you will join us in the drinking game, numberman.

I also hope that some other talking head will report a tingle in their legs over our boy Newt.

So I had a surgical procedure done today and I'm lying on the couch woozy on pretty good drugs. First time I've started paying attention to these caucuses in weeks.

Newt called Mitt a liar. Santorum called Ron Paul "disgusting". Rick Perry thinks the 2012 election is like landing in Normandy on D-Day. Michele Bachmann is predicting we'll see a miracle tonight (what, she'll come in second last?).

This is amazing. Batshit crazy.

I know Ron Paul's been quite popular in my town. Hell, the other day at work some guy came into my store asking if there were any Ron Paul people in the mall, like with booths and that sort of thing...and I kid you not, he was decked out in Uncle Sam type gear, top hat and coat with the stars and stripes, the works, with a Ron Paul button on the hat and a Tea Party shirt on to boot. And I've had a few people coming in asking about his books.

But who's going to win here tonight, who the hell knows, really? I'm horrible at predicting such things.

Couple responses from the last thread's posts:

And then, the "Dean Scream"...just an excitable candidate trying to rile up his base for the next few states and the media plays bits of out of context. I realized right then that the media just loves a circus.

I'm still completely and totally mystified to this day as to why that was such a big deal, why that was supposed to be a "campaign-ending action".

Luckily, I was already registered Green, so I voted for Peter Camejo in the primary and then Nader in the general election. I've never looked back and have only ever voted for Democrats when there's no other liberal choices on the ballot and will never do so otherwise.

You know, I think that's looking like a better and better idea with each passing day.

this seems to happen a lot with the GOP. they didn't hear the cheers when someone suggested allowing people without insurance to die.

You have absolutely NO idea just how angry I got when I heard that. My jaw literally dropped and I wanted to seriously punch the shit out of whoever was making the cheering sounds. All I could think of at that moment was my mom, who was out visiting her deathly sick sister at that time (who has since sadly passed away), and I thought back to my dad being sick, and the struggles in both instances to try and pay for their care, and...man. It truly pissed me off. If anyone on that stage had any sort of balls, they would've told those idiots to shut the hell up right then and there.

But nothing. Just stammered backpedaling or silence. That just further proved why I find the Republican attitude so deeply repugnant.

either way, the Republican assumption that it's only black people who receive welfare, or are the majority of welfare recipients, is a great big lie, one that's been repeated since Regan's racist "welfare queen" imagery of the 1980s, and if nothing else, this is a teachable moment.

Indeed. If only they were to meet my family, they'd realize that all their stereotypes about such an issue can be squashed in two seconds flat. They wouldn't know what to do with themselves then.

On a significantly lighter note, Tiger Edge, I love your title for the thread :D .

if this is part three of

the one Yolland started last Sept:

GOP Nominee 2012 - Who Will It Be?, Pt. 2

than this title is not appropriate, it is more like a one off reply

this GOP nomination process, will go on for a few months,
there should be a thread with an appropriate title

From BVS in the previous thread:

Or it doesn't really matter who she [Kelly Clarkson] endorsed, what does matter is how she made the endorsement. She caused a tiny bit of controversy and made news, that in turn reminded people she's still around and has a new album.
Nothing like inadvertent promotion.

if this is supposed to be the GOP nomination thread

this title is terrible

I don't participate in these threads (though I do a fair amount of lurking) and I was thinking about coming in here and saying the same thing. I completely agree with deep. For one of the most active threads in the entire forum, this is a bad title.

Sorry. Nothing personal, just think it's a bad thread title. Carry on.

 man you people are wound up tighter than a yoyo. Change the thread title back to the boring one then and continue, no need to cite sources and outside witnesses.

See ya

Maybe yolland could change it to a mix of the two:

GOP yada yada part 3: Win One For the Gipper.

 man you people are wound up tighter than a yoyo. Change the thread title back to the boring one then and continue, no need to cite sources and outside witnesses.

You're right. It's not a big deal. I was just thinking that the title doesn't really explain what the topic of discussion is, and that it might be confusing, but I think everybody is smart enough to figure it out. And people seem to have already figured it out. So, no biggie. Don't mind me.

Also, people like to say caucus. Jerry and George thought that people like to say salsa? Well, they do, but they also like to say caucus.

CAUCUS!

Rick Santorum is such a shithead.

/angry Pennsylvanian

He sure is. Thankful as ever he's not from my area of the country.

I haven't seen any of the cable news yet, either. I probably should check over at some point tonight-from what I'm seeing on the news updates online, seems pretty unsurprising so far. They're saying it's a three-way tie between Santorum, Romney, and Paul right now.

Kinda funny that Michele Bachmann, who originally is from Iowa (between her and Steve King we've got our own idiots, so I sympathize with you, PhilsFan), isn't doing so hot...

Ugh, Rick Santorum is doing well. He even has the Duggar family supporting him.
What's bothering me is that so many young people are supporting him, some my age. What happened to my generation and younger being all progressive and not extremely conservative?
