Newt's campaign gets sadder by the day.

Today he attacked Romney by asking "Why would you want to nominate the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Obama?," apparently unaware that the same thing could be said about Reagan in 1980.

This from a guy who prides himself on being a historian.

just have to add,

That when people bring up Gingrich's serial adultery, his reply is

Quote:
“I’m a grandfather now,” he frequently explains. The implication: his days of adultery and temper tantrums are behind him.
3 wives and multiple affairs are the type of thing that would lead to procreation and e.g. grandchildren.

and

Saddam Hussein had 3-4 times more grandchildren than he does.

Trust us, Bubba Newt - we don't keep bringing it up because we're concerned you'll keep doing it.

What a jerk.

And I'm still side-eyeing him from that whole "ZOMG MITTENS SPEAKS FRENCH" thing.

I just think back to him saying back in the mid '90s that women shouldn't be in combat situations because of the "infections" they have to deal with each month . At that point, everyone with half a brain should've just looked at him, threw their hands up, and said, "Okay, I'm done."

The irony is that he worked to get that insurance in MA in order to have it on his resume for higher office (just my opinion based on how the guy operates and how he blew with the wind politically and with what was best for him) and now he has to distance himself from it completely in order to have any hope for the Presidency. He didn't have a crystal ball to see all the Tea Party Obamacare stuff.

At least one adviser to both plans, an MIT professor, has said publicly that they're the same plans. But Mitt says otherwise and the professor said he's lying.

He really said that? What an ass.

Maybe if he became President maybe he could send women who are on their periods to some sort of camps or underground bunkers and segregate them.

Yep. I remember seeing that bit on TV a long time ago, but they show the clip within this "Daily Show" segment. It's from 1:58 to 2:08:

Indecision 2012 - Black to the Future - Newt Gingrich's Timing - The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - 01/12/12 - Video Clip | Comedy Central

There's plenty of other examples of his idiocy in there as well.

Heh, really, no kidding. I'd like to see him withstand a combat situation for more than 5 seconds. I could handle being out there longer than he could, and if you knew me, you'd realize how unlikely that would be.

Bernie Goldberg just made a complete ass of himself on Bill O'Reilly show, in a bit about the whitest guy in America, the video will go viral, for sure.

pasting posts from blog on the debate I am watching

Quote:
9.53pm: A lively back and forth between Juan Williams and Newt Romney over Gingrich's kooky stuff about making poor black kids work as janitors in schools. Williams points out that what's really offensive about that is Gingrich's claims about the need to instill work ethic, as well as his cheap shot about Barack Obama being a "food stamp" president. "It sounds like you are seeking to belittle people," says Williams.

This all goes down like a cup of cold sick – a phrase I recently used live on Australian Broadcasting Corporation news – with the audience, who loudly boo Williams. So it's come to this: booing the moderator? A Fox News moderator?
Quote:
9.51pm: "I am quite sure Martin Luther King would be in agreement with me on this," says Ron Paul, after agreeing that the US judicial system was still rife with institutional racism.

Now that's something you don't hear often in a Republican debate.

That must have been some pre-debate tailgate party judging by the rowdiness of the crowd.

Gingrich- A
Romney, Perry, Paul- B
Santorum- C

Gingrich seemed to be the crowd favorite. Santorum seemed too combative. Romney didn't have a great night. There's another debate on CNN on Thursday. My guess is that Gingrich closes in on Romney in the SC polls over the next few days.

I don't know which I find more disturbing-the fact that candidates are saying such blatantly offensive things, or the fact that the audiences at the debates are cheering what the candidates are saying and booing anyone who dares to point out that what they think is, you know, offensive and cruel.
