You know what the funny part about that is? Romney, the mormon, only has one wife and has been married to her for 42 years. Kinda makes all that talk about the "cult of Mormonism " sound kinda silly doesn't it?

NY Times

SUMTER, S.C. — After a campaign event here on Saturday, a woman told Mitt Romney that she was jobless and broke. In response, Mr. Romney reached into his pocket and handed cash to the woman, Ruth Williams, 55, of Columbia.

Ms. Williams, a Republican, said in an interview that she does not have enough money to care for her 26-year-old son, who recently suffered a brain aneurysm. She said God told her to follow the Romney campaign, which she has been doing since Wednesday.

Ms. Williams would not say exactly how much Mr. Romney had given her, but out of the crumpled bills, a $20 bill was visible. The interaction happened as Mr. Romney signed autographs and shook hands after a speech at an American Legion here.

“He was just being kind,” she said. “I told him the plight of my family, and he was very generous.”

The exchange came as Mr. Romney’s rivals try to cast him as out of touch with average people in South Carolina. Mr. Romney’s personal wealth is estimated at between $190 million and $250 million.

another funny thing,
the two Mormons in the GOP field are the really quite moderate, looking at their past statements and service in public office

This is true! Excellent point .

That story about Romney giving the girl money is nice.

it would be better if she was lucky enough to live in Massachusetts so she'd have health insurance.

nope. but it shows the futility of relying on things like individual charity or, say, "churches" (like Ron Paul said) to dispense essential things like health care (or roads, or police, or fire departments, or education) to the population. so he gave her $100? will that even cover the co-pay if she's lucky enough to have insurance?

there are certain things only government has the organizational capacity to do. health care is one of them.

Yes and presumably Mitt Romney agrees with this, as does Jon Huntsman, for example. So, 2 out of 5 of the GOP candidates are mad socialists. Not really the crazy party anymore, so.

why, then, do they want to repeal the Affordable Care Act?

other than the fact that it came from Obama?

well, as we know, they have to appeal to the wingnuts (the base) who think every thing Obama has done = bad. The same people who credited Bush for capturing Saddam, KSM, etc., but only gives credit for the killing of Bin Laden to the navy seals. Not Obama who approved the risky operation.

Anyway, when they say they want to repeal the ACA don't they mean de-fund it instead? I was under the impression there were built in protections to keep it from being repealed. Im asking because i honestly don't know.

He probably wouldn't have won SC anyway.

So Romney's "decoy" is out.
Now we are down to 1 serious candidate, 3 nuts, and Ron Paul.

I think Colbert took him out

Colbert theoretically ahead of Huntsman in South Carolina poll - chicagotribune.com

How could he stay in, and be the guy that Colbert was beating?

Now Colbert is in last place. Will he drop out next?

I can't remember a time when the nomination was more apparent before it really began

National Polls Suggest Romney Is Overwhelming Favorite for G.O.P. Nomination - NYTimes.com

Romney would have to have an Edwards like scandal or something, to not get the nomination.
I think that would be more likely with a Gingrich or even Santorum.
