Well, it sure wasn't Pepsi, it sure wasn't Coke... I'm guessing he would think it's a pretty stupid question.

The referenced site has nothing to do with theology.

The referenced site has plenty to do with theology. For instance, under the heading "We are not single-issue voters," there are seven statements, each followed by references to one or more verses of scripture. The entire site is about theology.

Now, if one wants to claim that the Sojourners site doesn't have to do with the brand of theology that conservative Christians are comfortable with, well, that's understandable.

The site is about politics. They do exactly what they criticize the "Religious Right" for doing.

And sprinkle some verses on top.

I guess it's down to interpretation.

I find their lack of allegiance to the "left" or "right" to be refreshing.

Once we can start getting rid of the labels we love so much, the world will be a better place.

Not being strictly on the "right" does not automatically make one "left", and vice-versa.

Ah, so you're questioning whether or not the folks at Sojourners are actually Christians. You're questioning their faith. Interesting.

I suppose we could look at a site such as Dobson's Family.org -- a site clearly about politics -- and say that they "sprinkle some verses on top" of their commentary in an attempt to justify their agenda. I suppose we could say that same about the websites of many Christian organizations.

Dobson's site has more links for ways to doanate than they do scriptural references.

Amen, U2 Democrat, you beat me to it. I do want to add that God does enjoy peanuts in his Dr. Pepper as there is no better way to enjoy that heavenly drink.

Back on topic however, I think God probably wants to vomit whenever people claim he is a liberal, conservative, etc. if we are discussing the God of the Bible then it is clear that he is not as much concerned with politics as he is with the status of the human heart. If Jesus was as concerned with politics as people claim, he would have been pushing the Sanhedrin (or Roman procurators) to push laws like the following: banning or allowing gay marriage, calling for regressive or progressive tax rates, and either socialized medicine or compeltely privatized health care. Unfortunately for both groups, Jesus never once discussed laws but instead talked about humankind's reaction to his coming and how we should act. The kingdom of heaven is not socialist, libertarian, or anything for that matter.

Dobson's site also is publicizing its new activist network that "will provide a platform for informing, inspiring and rallying those who care deeply about the family to greater involvement in the moral, cultural and political issues that threaten our nation." Currently Dobson's site is encouraging its readers to "fight back against activist judges" and "stop judicial tyranny." Amazing how Dobson's agenda mimics that of the Bush administration.

Dobson's site contains material suggesting that conservative Christians got George W. Bush re-elected. http://family.org/cforum/citizenmag/coverstory/a0035019.cfm Imagine that.

aha! well, there you go then! :) makes complete sense now.

Maybe the Hindu elephant Goddess Ganesha tought the Christian God how to consume peanuts.

Thats a nice thought. The two of them sitting together sharing a packet of peanuts :cute:

Talking about the Almighty in such a way is disturbing, but it's clear to me that if Christ came back tomorrow and ran for political office, he would not get the evangelical vote. He'd be labeled a bleeding heart and he wouldn't get out of the primaries...what with his progressive views, challenging conventional wisdom, healing the sick, helping the poor, promoting peace, throwing out the money changers, condemning greed, hanging with prostitutes, the homeless and afflicted, and judging not.
