it's a story that's been reported mostly in France, but we have actual quotes attributed to the former president of France, Jacques Chirac.

Can you just imagine what we would be hearing if this was the Bush White House? It's unbelievable.

Saddam will not be on the ballot in Iraq in January 2010, and the number of people who consider that to be a huge benefit to the security and stability of Iraq, the region and the world continues to grow.

what's even more deranged is the fact that we got him out of power almost immediatley after invasion in 2003, and yet we are still there today in mid 2009.

hmmm, maybe there were other motivations for the Iraq war.

Cool it, guys. Didnt you hear? The war on terror is over as of yesterday! There is no more global effort to fight terrorism, and jihad is non-existent! Therefore, why we have even one troop in Afghanistan or Iraq is a mystery to me. Obama is a genius!

Rebuilding a society ripped apart by 25 years of Saddam's rule, takes time. US troops are still in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, South Korea long after the initial US intervention in those places as well.

why do we spend billions and billions, if not trillions, of dollars "rebuilding" countries when we seem to have more pressing issues here?

why do we still need troops in Japan and Germany? they seem to have been rebuilt good enough by now

seems a bit Orwellian to me.

some people say that Social Security is the 3rd Rail in American Politics, but i'm beginning to think it's health care.

not Obama's best sales pitch by far. we'll see what happens.

but i can't believe that *anyone* thinks that the current system is sustainable.
