Cuba is all organic

'One reason is the radical changes to Cuba's agriculture. A recent report by the American agency for sustainable farming, Food First, said annual production of fruit and vegetables is growing at 250% a year.' And the produce is grown without any help from chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.

Cuba offers the world lessons in organic food production.

According to the U.S. Institute for Food and Development Policy, Cuba is the international leader in organic food production science. Hard to believe, but the withdrawal of Soviet aid from Cuba in 1989 not only meant Cubans did without medicines and food supplies, but also that 1,3000,000 tons of chemical fertilizers and 10,000 tons of pesticides could no longer be imported every year.

huh? Can you re-phrase? I know organic foods in general are better for people and the environment, but my point was Greenpeace is againt ALL GMOs, even ones that can save thousands of people from poverty and starvation. So yeah, it seems like plants are being valued over humans.
