It's the difference between the fantasy of being drooled over and the reality of being smirked at. Being publically chided by an authority figure for your inappropriate dress is not going to make anyone feel sexy.

I understand what you're saying, but it's really beside the point of whether or not the flight attendant reacted appropriately. I'm sure his line of thinking wasn't "Hmm let's see, does she seem like the kind of outrageous in-your-face slut who deserves to get booted off, or does she seem like a well-meaning college girl who naively overdid it a little?" I'm sure he was evaluating her outfit in light of their policies instead. Which is the correct way to think about it...it's whether or not his decision on (and proposed solution to) that question was fair and appropriate that was under debate.
