Fatwa Website ask Imam

Ahhh yes....such pearls of wisdom.

[Q]Many muslims priase Hitler for killing jews, shoud they or are they wrong.

Answer 1554 2001-04-19

Islam has ordered us Muslims to fight against the enemies of Islam and not be like the Jew and make other nations fight their wars. We as Muslims may share in Hitlers hatered for the Jews but we cannot praise him for the manner in which he went about killing the jews (if the history books are correct). But rather we as Muslims are governed by the Shariah which prohibit the killing the old and the weak etc.

[Q]You may work with Jews. However, a person is affected by his environment. It is very easy to be influenced by their lifestyle and habits.

Therefore, if there are other job opportunities besides this one, we suggest you give preference to another job. If there are no other opportunities, you may continue working till you find another suitable job.

[Q]The Qur'aan is replete with the descriptions of the Jews. They have
repeatedly violated the orders of Allah Ta'ala. They are also known to
murder many prophets, in particular, Zakariyyah (Alayhis salaam).
Thereafter, Allah still bestowed them with a great prophet, Moosa (Alayhis
salaam) who liberated them from the oppression of Fir'awn.

They were instructed by Musa (Alayhis salaam) to fight the nation of Amaliqa
and regain their land. They responded to him, 'You and your Allah go and
fight, we will remain seated here.' When they were trapped in a valley for
forty years, Allah Ta'ala bestowed them with food and fruits from heaven but
they said, 'That's not enough, they want other foods.' When Moosa (Alayhis
salaam) went to the mount to speak to Allah, the Jews in his absence,
committed Shirk and started worshipping a calf. All that in total
inconsideration of Allah's favours upon them.

Moosa (Alayhis salaam) predicted to them the coming of Rasulullah
(Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam). That was clearly stated in the Tawrah but
they openly denied that. The above are just a few from an infinite list of
their disobediences and violations of Allah's orders. Due to their
disobedience, Allah Ta'ala said, 'Disgrace and need has been set on them.'
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'Verily this (the Jews) are a
dirty nation. We do not need them.'

This makes me sick as a Muslim to see another muslim say this...

BUT, THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT THE MUSLIM VIEW OF JEWS.. JUST TO CLEAR THIS WITH THE AUDIENCE.. IT IS THE VIEW OF AN UNEDUCATED, MISLEAD INDIVIDUAL...

I'd like to end the night for myself as quoting a favorite sheikh of mine:

"We must focus on living together side by side (rerfering to people of Israel and Palestine). The Prophet (Peace be upon him) was a neighbor to a Jewish women who threw trash at him every day, one day she was not there to throw trash. The Prophet went to see if she was ok, a fellow told him that she had fell fatally ill. He was the only one that decided to see her."

Amna,

I respect your perspective and am glad you shared it.

What concerns me about this, though, is that, if I'm correct about my Islamic terms here, and I might not be, an Imam is considered a teacher. He's in a position of power and authority, isn't he? Now, hopefully many Muslims like you realize that what he says is not what the Koran teaches. But that this comes from a man with authority just deeply concerns me. Hopefully most disregard him as you do.

Thanks,
SD

Sherry (and everyone else) I've read enough stuff, in books and on web sites, written by peaceful Moslems who'll have nothing to do with this view of Jews and others not of their faith to know it is a minority viewpoint. Big time. I don't have any URL's handy but one site was referred to me by my friend in Israel. These Moslems run an information site on their religion and culture, and work on world hunger projects and such as well. They're great people. And yes, an imam is a scholar. This guy's viewpoint is not accepted by the great majority of Moslem scholars. Amna, you know more about this than I do since you're a Moslem and I'm not. I just thought I'd mention some of my experiences with Moslems. Yes, some of them are bad apples. There are bad apples all over. In the U.S. we have kooks like the KKK. They stand out like sore thumbs; they attract attention. Ugh.

I'm glad you brought that up SD, I was browsing around this site for a long while this evening and discovered a lot of things I didn't know. Toward the end and based on curiosity from this thread, I searched for all things on Hitler; Jew; Jewish; Israel; and Palestine - those being the search terms. It was about the only time this Imam faulted and was hesitant to give advice or answer a question directly. Often he referred to a quote and based his impression on that, and while I know that the muslim religion in general cannot be said to hate Jews, this fellow seems to have a hard time hiding it without give or take a few times, ever stating as much. It struck me as very odd actually when responding to questions on matters like forgiveness and Christianity he spoke of having love in your heart as was Allah's bidding etc. Yet this never extended to people of Jewish faith. Forgiveness to an extent and to a select few it seems is his view - as long as you aren't a thieving Jew anyway. (sarcasm not directed at anyone in here)

He seems to be writing on behalf of some kind of council of sorts. Anyone know what exactly the site is? It seems to be somewhat an authority with people from all over the world looking for answers to problems. I'd hope it is not some kind of official site as he is a prime example of why some get the wrong idea about the muslim faith.

Angela, ugh, that's disturbing. I haven't been to this site yet. I hate it that anyone has to spit out their guts on the Jews. That sucks.

I spent a while on it last night. I tend to hit the random Fatwa button. I also used many key words to search it and agree with you Angela. There is an undertone on the site, and I would say that there are times where you can sense that the writer is not saying what he would like to say.

I am sure there are many Exstremist Christian sites where we could find similar behavior however.

[Q]It is true that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned that
women have less intelligence than men. This is recorded in Bukhari Shareef.
As far as decision making between husband and wife, the Shari'ah has made
the husband the head of the family. The wife has to obey his lawful demands.
This does not mean that he should not consult with her, or that she has no
say whatsoever in the family, but it means that time final authority lies
with the husband.

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'I have not seen a person
deficient in intelligence and Deen more able to overcome an intelligent man
that you, O women. The women asked, 'What is the deficiency in our intellect
and Deen.' Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied, 'Is it not that
in testimony, your testimony is half of the man's.' They replied,
'Certainly.' He (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, 'This is due to your
deficient intellect.' Also refer below our standard reply to a similar
query.

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Mufti Ebrahim Desai
FATWA DEPT.

We have taken note of your e-mail. By the grace of Allah we are not offended
by the least. We understand your frame of mind quite well, and are well
aware of the type of mindset you have. We sincerely make du'a that Allah
Ta'ala grants you increase in Islamic knowledge and an understanding of the
Deen.

Please find attached a copy of the text under question. However, I am sure
that this will not solve the matter, for even if we had to present Imaam
Bukhari's hand-written manuscript it will be of no value to you.

The root of the issue is that you view Islam from a western mindset. Your
values and principles lie in the kuffaar way of life, hence your apologetic
attitude regarding many of the teachings of Islam. We are all in need of
shedding some pride, which is the cornerstone of western ideology.

One of the principles that you have inherited from the kuffaar is the equati
ng of inferiority with derogation.

To accept that Allah Ta'ala has created somebody or something inferior to
another, in no way implies that the inferior person or thing is belittled.

There are various examples of where Allah Ta'ala, in accordance to His
wisdom, has created certain people superior than others. This is the right
of Allah Ta'ala and no one may question His Wisdom. His Knowledge is
absolute and we, as His creation, cannot fathom His Wisdom.

Consider that Allah Ta'ala has created:
(a) Our Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) as the most superior of all the
ambiyaa (prophets).
(b) Hazrat Jibra-eel (alayhis salaam) as the most superior angel.
(c) Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu anhu) as the most superior companion of our
Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)
(d) Makkah as the most superior city.
(e) The QurŠan the most superior of the Divine Books

These are merely few cases mentioned by way of illustration. If we had the
time, we could have easily produced a few thousand examples.

In all these cases, since a superior exists, the converse must necessarily
follow to be the inferior.

Can one claim that by referring to them as inferior, we wish to belittle or
deride them? Do we imply that they are debase and disgraceful? Does it imply
that they are ignominious?

If this was the case it would imply that since Allah Ta'ala has created our
Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) as the most superior Nabi, Allah forbid,
all the other Ambiyaa (alayhis salaam) have no value? Does it mean that
since the QurŠan is most superior, all other Divine scriptures are merit
less? The same question can be posed regarding the other examples given.

On the one hand, inferiority is no shame, and on the other hand, it is the
prerogative of Allah Ta'ala to grant intellect to whom so ever He wishes to.
If in His Wisdom He granted men more intelligence than women, it is His
Right. No one can question Him, nor can we, with our feeble intelligence
claim, Allah forbid, that it is illogical for Allah Ta'ala to have done so.
It is neither implied that Allah Ta'ala has degraded women, nor made them
valueless.

Allah Ta'ala has created man and woman for separate roles. He also granted
each one of the two qualities which are more befitting for their respective
roles, e.g. women are generally more emotional than men in keeping with
their role of motherhood. In the same light he has granted men more
intelligence than women, in accordance of their role of guardians and
overseers over women.

You have misinterpreted this to imply that women are un-intelligent and
stupid. This is the result of the corrupt basis from which you are viewing
the issue. You have presumed inferiority to mean degradation.

Almost the entire universe is made of inferior beings. We are all in one way
or the other inferior. We do not have to hang our heads in shame for being
inferior. It is the Divine system that He has created us inferior in some
respect or the other. There is therefore no need for women to feel ashamed
of the fact that they have been granted less of one quality than men.

It is rational to accept that not all humans are not of equal intelligence.
It therefore follows that some are more intelligent than others are i.e.
others are inferior in intelligence. Can one claim that others are devoid of
intelligence? Such a claim will certainly be illogical.

The writer hereof has no qualms in accepting that there are many persons
more intelligent than I am. This makes me inferior in intellect. Why should
I allow my pride make me feel ashamed of it. Now, I wish to meet a person
who can claim to be the most superior in intellect. Yet pride will prevent
many a person from accepting that they are of inferior intellect, for in
their feeble minds it implies some type of disgrace.

In brief, inferiority does not imply disgrace.

May Allah Ta'ala grant us all understanding.
