Canadians:
I was just watching parliament debate a motion on reforming the voting process to a proportional voting system, much like that in New Zealand I suppose.

This sounds like a very important discussion, but I don't know a whole lot about the differences between electoral and proportional voting aside from the possibility of minorities and women being more fairly represented under a Proportional voting system

can anyone make all this cleaer for me?

If it is provincial proportionality, it will probably parallel the united states' electoral college. Which would distribute seats by percent population... this is similar to what we've got going now. Which is satisfying to all.

I haven't heard of reform in this area... except they might be focusing on the redefinition of the senate. Instead of executive appointments. What do the lobbyists have to say mr. speaker?
