I agree. With all the deficiencies in our public school systems, this is what he wants us to spend our limited resources on? Makes me glad I went through the private school system...heh.

Yes, this is what I meant. And I think it would be feasible if there were cuts in other areas (which would include cuts in "public schools" as enrollment moves to private schools).
Do a little research into how schools are funded, especially in CA. What gets cut so Joe Taxpayer funds your child's church school education? What portion of your taxes goes towards someone else's kid going to church school?

Ahh, every public schoolteacher's real fantasy! Make private schools reach the same standards we have to with the same populations. Because if the private church schools get public money, they'll have to take anyone who wants to attend. Bwaa-ha-ha! :evillaugh: Then we'll see how great the church schools are.

So true. Just once, as a Liberal, I'd like to get pandered to. I wonder how it would feel?

Not exactly. I'm opposed to the movement to make public schools more like private schools. And I do think private schools need tighter standards.

A separate room is diffferent from a few moments of silence. He never advocates a separate room.

^ Exactly. I don't know where that came from. I think I'm for the time of silence myself, even though I believe the room would be used frequently where I'm at.

Of course, I live in Kansas.

Our entire education system being one huge pander to liberalism. A government run monopoly supported by a monolithic teacher's union. From the bureaucratic Dept of Education down to the curriculum.
Which of coarse explains why it's failing our children on so many levels. And also why so many of it's most vocal supporters...send their children to private schools.

The billions we spend taking care of the illegal immigrants would be a great place to start.

That's offset by the $7 billion a year their false identities generate in Social Security taxes.

A small fraction of the several hundred billion we've spent "ridding Iraq of WMDs."

He's actually right. As a reporter I covered education for four years. The teachers union, NEA, runs everything and the district I covered, which has more than 20,000 students, did everything it could to stop a conservative teachers union from forming.

And as I said before, this is in Kansas.

I'm afraid to find out what a "conservative teacher's union" in Kansas wanted.
