Bonoman, this is EXACTLY what I was talking about: people more than willing to give up their (and my) rights in the name of fighting crime. It's the old "as long as one (life, criminal, whatever) is (saved, arrested, etc), it's worth it. Bullshit! If you are willing to have your rights as an American slowly eaten away, rather than addressing the cause of the problems, fine. I'm not willing to give up so easily.
I used to live in a crappy neighborhood. There were dealers and scum in the alley all the time. But at no time did I ever say "Gee whiz, I wish the cops would come and tape my comings and goings so these other people might get caught doing something iilegal." Nope. Start putting preasure on your elected officials to do something within the law about it, or you're going to find yourself with no protection and a videotaped record of all YOUR movements, whether you have anything to hide or not.

Oh crap! 80s, the two of us agreeing on something may be a sign of the end times. Let's be careful.

I'm from near Virginia beach and I remember seeing this on the news recently. Not only do they watch people on the street, they want to try to make them have the ability to see into parked cars on city streets!!!

That's funny, martha, because I was just thinking today that you and I agree on quite a bit!

Has anyone ever thought about maybe tearing down the camera?

Martha, here's a quote by Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up a little Liberty for a little safety deserve neither."

Yes, why not? People break roadside cameras all the time, because they believe they should be allowed to drive as fast as they want. If you can't verbalize, vandalize!

Well taping people is legal.

Period. They can tape you all they want! I can tape you without any sound and show it on the net and its legal. I dont need your permission.

But i do see where you are coming from and i'm not totally for it or againist it. But i'm just trying to play the other part of the arguement. Oh and by the way about that street in my city two cops were beaten by 50!!! guys saturday night!!! Maybe this could have prevented it or not...
