Dan Quayle, Back In The News!

lol

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercu...s/15049856.htm

Dan Quayle took time out from participating in the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship in Stateline, Nev., on Friday to attend John Mellencamp's concert only to run into a political statement.

He then made a statement of his own by walking out during Mellencamp's rendition of ``Walk Tall.'' Before launching into the song, Mellencamp told the Harveys casino crowd, in effect, that it was dedicated to everyone hurt by policies of the current Bush administration.

Quayle, who served as vice president for President Bush's father in 1989-93 walked out of the venue before Mellencamp finished the song.

Quayle said through a publicist: ``Well, I think Mellencamp's performance was not very good to begin with, and the comment put it over the top.''

Mellencamp couldn't be reached for comment.

Oh Danny boy. Mellencamp always says something anti-Bush at his shows, he did when I saw him a year ago and it was an excellent concert.

Mellencamp kicks ass Dan Quayle is just plain embarassing.

I guess Dan had no idea that Mellencamp isn't a Bush fan-what was that about the simple minded and uninformed..?

The simple minded
And the uninformed
Can be easily led astray
And those that cannot connect the dots
Hey look the other way
People believe what they want to believe
When it makes no sense at all
So be careful of those killing in Jesus's name*
He don't believe in killing at all*
Walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on talkin')
Yeah walk on(Keep on walkin', Keep on talkin')
Through this world
Walk tall
Somewhere out in the distance
Is the death of you and me
Even though we don't think of it much
It's still out there for us to see
If you treat your life like a bar room fight
You'll die stinking of gin
No drunkards are allowed in heaven
No sinners will get in
Walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on talkin')
Yeah, walk on(Keep on walkin', Keep on talkin')
Walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on talkin')
Through this world
Walk tall
So be careful in what you believe in
There's plenty to get you confused
And in this land called paradise
You must walk in many men's shoes
Bigotry and hatred are enemies to us all
Grace, mercy and forgiveness
Will help a man walk tall
So walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on walkin')
Yeah, walk on(Keep on walkin', Keep on walkin')
Walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on walkin')
Through this world
Through this world
Yeah, walk tall(Keep on walkin', Keep on walkin')

It's been brought back to me in a rather vivid way this summer that there are some people that the world is a poorer place without. Whether it be of reasons of the joy and energy they bring (the golden bomber comes to mind… that’s former Spurs striker and now sadly former German national coach Klinsmann to you sadly football-deficient Americans) or the simple, slightly guilty, enjoyment that comes from seeing someone in an elevated position make a complete and utter fool of himself. I really miss Dan Quayle sometimes.

What did Dan Quayle expect? It's not exactly a secret that John Mellencamp is no fan of the GOP. He was on the Vote for Change Tour, for heaven's sake!

Whenever I hear about him I'm reminded of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I just wanted a reason to quote Charles Barkley in FYM

NY Post

July 20, 2006 -- The reverb is still echoing over Dan Quayle's walkout in the middle of a John Mellencamp concert in Lake Tahoe last weekend. The singer-songwriter introduced his tune "Wall Talk" by announcing, "This next one is for all the poor people who've been ignored by the current administration." As Quayle exited, the former veep explained, "I didn't appreciate the comment, and besides, I didn't think the show was very good." But Mellencamp said he couldn't care less that Quayle got his knickers in a twist: "I certainly wouldn't have changed a word." NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley backed Mellencamp, saying, "He's right." While that may sound odd coming from a former conservative, Barkley told a local reporter, "I was a Republican - until they lost their minds." Quayle, known for his great golf game, served as veep under President Bush's father from 1989-'93.

(AP)Mellencamp, however, said he had no regrets.

"I still feel there are many people left behind by this administration," he said in a statement to the Times. "Not talking about problems doesn't make them go away. It's kind of telling that he chose to walk out as I was doing a song about tolerance."

On Friday, Mellencamp's spokesman, Bob Merlis, said the singer did not want to exploit the incident by speaking further about it.

Why would Quayle even bother to show up to a Mellencamp concert? You go JM!
