Controversy Over Unreleased Nicole Kidman Film

From IMDb

Kidman's Kissing Scene with Boy Sparks Outrage

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman's latest film has sparked controversy before its even been released - because of a passionate clinch she shares with a ten-year- old boy. The Oscar-winning actress, 36, is seen getting romantic with a ten-year-old boy she believes is the reincarnation of her dead husband in Birth - which has horrified film executives. New Line Cinema bosses are anxious over scenes involving Kidman and the boy stripping off together for a bath - while another scene see the two locking lips. PR companies who are set to promote the $54 million film have allegedly called it a 'publicity nightmare'.

I understand from the description..she thinks it's her husband..and it's only a movie etc. But I for one think that's really inappropriate..a ten year old, kissing, stripping. I also wonder what the reaction would be if it was an adult male actor w/ a 10 year old girl

I don't know, is this sort of thing more acceptable in mainstream movies, and where do you draw the line?

Oh No, now it looks like they may have to change that "10 year old boy" into a 20 something woman to remove the element of controversy.

Lesbian sex will sell better than kiddie porn.

I heard about this. I can see why it's controversial, but it is only a film. I doubt the film is promoting this kind of relationship. I think it's meant to shock.

The 10 year old signed on to do the film willingly and must have his parent's consent, so I don't see it as being exploitive and dangerous, like a kiddie porn film is. When they shot the most recent version of "Lolita," the actress wasn't even allowed to sit on Jeremy Iron's lap without a pillow between them, so I wonder how much real contact there was between Kidman and the 10 year old.

However, if I saw the film, I could feel quite differently...

Thank goodness for our "American Family Values"

Why don't they just make a movie where Kidman is a Navy Seal and she eviscerates a couple dozen people.

Now that would be good American patiotic cinema.

Put the bumper sticker on the car. Bring the kids.

10 year-old boys aside, this movie sounds terrible. I'm surprised that they just didn't write a movie about Nicole Kidman thinking that her dead husband is reincarnated into Halle Berry, where, to prove her theory, has sex with her in the local mud wrestling pit, where she and her husband, most coincidentally, first made love.

I mean, really. Just because you can write a script about it doesn't mean that you should.

Melon

Hahaha!

bonoman, that was The Professional, with Jean Reno and Natalie Portman.

Dominique Swain had her mother on the set while they were shooting Lolita.

The issues on it being a movie aside, I still look at things like this and think underneath the acting is a very real 10 year old and a very real mature woman acting (sure) but it's a scene that isn't appropriate. Creative licence still needs boundaries.

They could probably use CGI, I can see it now, closeup shots of Kidman and the Kid matched with some ingame footage from The Sims, with all the blurring and babble talk.
