Excuse me, but why is it so interesting what the polls say? Bush is going to stay in office and he can´t rerun for President.

I really dislike the blah in the media, Bush is like that, his ratings go up, his ratings go down. What is that of any interest to me, they even say it in the news here! It´s not even my President!

And it would only be interesting if polling had some effect. But it doesn´t.

So what is the whole point here?

there are a few points.

the first is juvenile, and it's called Schadenfreude, but damn it does feel good. i love the buyer's remorse i'm hearing from the more rational republicans i know, and it also helps to show who's really drunk the Kool-Aid and would blindly follow bush into a burning buildling.

the other reasons is that the president will become a liability for Republican members of congress in 2006. if he is seen as unpopular, then members of congress will seek to distance themselves from him, and his agenda becomes less and less likely to pass, he looses power, becomes, in essence, what is known as a lame duck.

while the presidency is important, it isn't (yet) a dictatorship. for congress to fall out of republican control, the democrats are greatly advantaged if they can link congresspersons in hotly contested districts to an unpoular president. if congress falls out of republican control, it becomes that much harder for the Bush WH to be effective in pushing its agenda.

bush is not a dictator; despite holding the presidency (barring impeachment) until 2008, this does not mean that he has a free pass to do whatever he wants until 2008.

The trial takes place in the Senate, not a court.

Like I said, it is so simple. Dems.. wake up. Technology is ten steps ahead of you. Videos wont prove anything in front of a court, but you know.. things get dynamic on their own.. and the media would just love it. And there´s much more creative, active, flexible and funny action than just plain Schadenfreude

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With his chief political aide under investigation as part of a probe into the public unmasking of a CIA operative, President Bush is sending his staff back to school -- ethics school.

Bush is requiring his executive office staff to attend refresher courses on ethics and handling classified materials, according to a White House memo.

"The President has made clear his expectation that each member of his Executive Office of the President (EOP) staff adhere to the spirit as well as the letter of all rules governing ethical conduct for EOP staff," states the memo sent to Bush's staff.

Staff members with security clearances will attend mandatory sessions next week, and those without security clearances will attend mandatory sessions the following week.

The memo went to all EOP staff, which numbers about 3,000, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

The refresher course comes as Bush's top aide, Karl Rove, is under investigation and as Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, faces indictments in connection with the outing of a CIA operative.

I am sure he spoke on her passing and importance

did he not miss it because he was in South America for the long scheduled free trade conference?

where he took some serious "heat" for his policies

if he had dodged the "trade conference" for the funeral
he would have looked like a wimp


if he had missed the funeral
because he was at his ranch falling off his mountain bike
that would be a different thing

My cousin claimed that he heard Bush didn't attend the funeral because he was having dinner with Prince Charles in the States.

Bush didn't head out to South America until the day after her funeral.
