how he even has a 45 per cent approval rating beyond me.

meanwhile the rest of the world, if polled, would probably produce a number closer to 10 per cent...and that's being a bit optimistic, i'd guess.

america, america...your enigmatic ways never fail to astound us.

unfortunately now he's already in his second term so it's too late. the only good thing is maybe whoever the hell is the republican candidate next time maybe won't win.

our government is so super conservative i'd at least like a moderate/centrist of either party, someone who's not going to be pushing bills to shut down porn sites and take away the rights for gay marriages. but that's another thread.

The "rights" to gay marriages were not really there in the first place, although by putting legislation ahead at a federal level is wrong when it should have been left too the states, just like abotion and pretty much any of those contentious social issues.

The Social Security thing went over like a lead balloon. Iraq is going over like a lead balloon. No wonder. Unfortunately he's in his second term, there's nothing anyone can do.

you know, that's probably what he thinks to.

he probably grew up never having to clean up his own messes; that's what The Help has always been for.

It isn't tearing this left-winger up. Nosiree.

We've got 3 and 1/3 more years of Iraq ahead with him. We've been there for 2 yrs, but the real A'ction" has only been going on for 4 months. And with the polls this low after only 4 months, and no end in sight, I can't see how he's going to pull off a Ronald Reagan Legacy Push with this on his tail. He has 3 more years to soak in it. He won't be able to fob off blame for his actions and have us forget what he did, like we forgot that kennady started Vietnam or Bush Senior sat there for the first 2 years of the Bosnian Crisis and did nothing, and Clinton got the blame. Iraq will ALWAYS be Bush's baby and history is not going to treat him kindly for it. The backlash has barely begun, and it is sad that our brave troops AND the American people have barely begun to pay the price for it--and we are going to have to pay MUCH more.

Even with the Republican majority, he hasn't been able to so a damn thing. This is b/c the American people are starting to see through the sham and don;t like his programs, period. And John McCain pretty much out an end to dreams of steamrolling legislation through Congress without a fight. The Dems can still filbuster anything they please, succesfully. (Witness the ongoing Bolton drama.) amd as someone said recently, as long as they don't have any proposlas of their own, there's nothing for the Reps to do--they can't focus on the other party's deficiencies. ID Bush hasn't been able to get his agenda off the ground by now, with unlimited political power, and a slavering media ready to do his bidding, he;s in trouble. If it wasn't for a possible Supreme Court battle, I'd get a drink and sit back and chortle as the flames begin. And a Suprmee COurt victory woyuldn't change the balance of power in the COurt wither---just replacing one far-right Justice with another.

So I'M laughing allthe way to the bank--or would be, if it wasn't for everyone suffering for Bush's lies.

Quietly, he is also destroying the environment in all ways possible. This undeniable fact probably contributes less than 1% of that negative rating, seeing as most Americans are too fat and overworked to notice.

Just thought I'd remind you of that, assuming some of you folks also breathe, eat fish, swim, etc.

No Bounce From Bush's Speech

"President Bush’s televised address to the nation produced no noticeable bounce in his approval numbers, with his job approval rating slipping a point from a week ago, to 43%," in the latest Zogby International poll. "And, in a sign of continuing polarization, more than two-in-five voters (42%) say they would favor impeachment proceedings if it is found the President misled the nation about his reasons for going to war with Iraq."

"In a more significant sign of the weakness of the President’s numbers, more 'Red State' voters—that is, voters living in the states that cast their ballots for the Bush-Cheney ticket in 2004—now rate his job performance unfavorably, with 50% holding a negative impression of the President’s handling of his duties, and 48% holding a favorable view."
