Problem is, history shows that conservatives when looking at the law from a purely constitutional manner can't force their partisan views, and this pisses off conservatives.

So yes, he could've gotten away with a "shove it in your face, Roe will be overturned, conservative."
No way.

Where in the constitution is abortion/"choice"? Where in the constitutiton does is say that we can't display the 10 Commandments on public property? How about guarding our borders? Bush's mission was to please his wife and all the affirmative action mongers by picking a princess with no judicial background.

Seems like another attempt to play "Mr. Moderate" and avoid controversy by picking a nobody.
Not surprisingly, this makes me feel a little better about her.

Always leave them with a smile!

By the way, your avatar reminded me of boot camp. The smile on nickelson's face is about the size of mine...hence my nickname in boot camp.

Dread, if that political compass thing is to be believed, I'm a centrist too.

Although my poly sci class I might as well be a commie compared to everyone else.

They go by a case by case basis. And what do our borders have to do with it?

I'm sure you have tons of evidence for that one.

Case by case... Ginsberg made a comment on how Roberts was "right" to avoid answering questions about the "issue" (notice she didn't say "case") that would appear before the court. Rulings have been made in the past regarding the issue, whether or not you believe it.

Laura, admirable when reserved, had to open her big fat mouth (as did O'Connor) when Bush nominated Roberts JUST BECAUSE HE WASN'T A WOMAN. Personally, I find a Supreme Court Justice a lot more reliable when they are picked by their credentials than when they are picked by their gender, etc.

You are still completely missing the role or these courts. It's case by case and if you honestly think the courts should have found for indefinate detention then you don't understand the constitution.

As I read this comment, I threw my hands over my head in disbelief. You've totally missed my point. The MAIN FACTORS should be CREDENTIALS and JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE.
