....I pass on these articles for you to read and hopefully be moved to act on for the futures of millions of poor people around the world.

People are always discussing what they can do to make a difference in the world. I would suggest getting involved with the struggle to FULLY FUND the Global AIDS and antipoverty legislation before Congress in the FY2005 budget would be the best place to start.

Lifesaving Global AIDS Funding in Danger!

Right now, Congress is determining final funding levels for Global AIDS Programs. Without urgent action, they will cut $300 million from the programs that combat the spread of AIDS and deliver lifesaving medicines to those who need it most.

YOU can make a difference if you call right now!

Call Congress and tell them to fully fund Global AIDS Programs!

The Senate wants to offer $3.1 billion to fight AIDS, but the House of Representatives wants to reduce the offer to $2.8 billion.

This $300 million difference could put over 200,000 more people on lifesaving treatment and prevent 500,000 people from contracting the AIDS virus.

This $300 million also enables the US to support two equally crucial initiatives to beat AIDS - the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria and President Bush’s AIDS initiative.

To beat AIDS we also have to beat the extreme poverty in poor regions like Africa. That is why we need full funding of $2.5 billion for the Millennium Challenge to fight poverty and other key programs which provide water and education to the poorest communities.

Call 1-877-HOPE-USA (1-877-467-3872)
to be connected directly to your Senator of Congressperson.

Tell Congress to fully fund Global AIDS, the Millennium Challenge and other crucial lifesaving programs.

For more information about funding for Global AIDS Programs and what to say when you call, please click here.

Act now and lend your voice to the fight against global AIDS and poverty.

ONE Campaign travels to Africa with Brad Pitt!
Last week, the ONE campaign traveled across Africa on a “listening and learning” expedition with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. The trip was organized by DATA and started off in South Africa by visiting AIDS orphans and people living with HIV in Soweto and in the rural community of Qwa Qwa. From there we traveled north to Ethiopia and spent a few days in Addis Ababa learning about how poverty and disease are affecting the people of this country. “I’ve just spent a wonderful week traveling this beautiful continent, listening to the people and learning about the AIDS crisis, the extreme poverty in which people live and how people in America can help by joining The ONE Campaign to fight global AIDS and poverty,” Pitt said. Tune in this evening (11/16) to Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood for an “exclusive” behind the scenes look at Brad’s trip. You can view a slideshow of photos from the trip by clicking here.

Global AIDS & Poverty Funding in Danger!
Right now, Congress is determining final funding levels for fighting AIDS. This $300 million difference could put over 200,000 more people on lifesaving treatment and prevent 500,000 from contracting the AIDS virus. Get Involved in your Local Community!
There are ONE campaign field organizers and volunteers in communities across the United States who are looking to meet you and get your help in the fight against global AIDS and poverty. Because People's Lives are too important PLEASE visit The ONE Campaign's website and read about Brad Pitt's journey to Africa on behalf of DATA.

The pics of Brad and the struggling people of eastern Africa (especially of the beautiful faces of the children, many of them now AIDS orphans) are heart-wrenching. Hopefully heart-wrenching enough to motivate all of us to GREATER ACTION for their Future.

Thank you for your time and concern.
